Are there any catholic virgins left?

I’m saving myself for marriage.

So I’m reaching my third decade in life where I’m wondering whether my life ahead is to stay celibate forever or just keep waiting for the right person.

Wondering if anybody else is in this position?
I am 23 and I am so yes.

My fiance’ and I are 21, we have been in our relationship for 3.5 years now and though it has been hard, yes we are both still virgins. 30 days left till our wedding day!

Congratulations! And I hope you will keep it up until the wedding day. Ik will make the day more beautiful.

If it makes you feel better, the most recent data indicate that “only” about 34% of teens and 60% of adults 24 and younger have ever been sexually active. So, virgins are out there.

But don’t obsess about virginity. Lots of young, foolish people try sex, regret it, repent and move ahead with a commitment to chastity. These people are not “damaged goods” and are often very holy 🙂 What you want is a mate who has commited a chaste Catholic life, not necessarily one that has never made a mistake.
But how many of them actually want to be. Not to be negative, but I know many virgins who sadly think its a loser status. I used to be one of those guys before I found my faith. I’m 24 though i’m not really made fun of for it. Surprisingly, even friends who don’t have faith tell me that if its right for me than its good.

Eighteen years-old and still a virgin. I know it’s young, but it’s kind of hard because I have a boyfriend and we both have to be on guard ALL THE TIME.
Keep the faith, God Bless you! 🙂

Its extremely difficult to find such a girl.

But possible.

Honestly, your best bets are probably Catholic Match or Ave Maria Singles.

Not the most romantic or ideal format, but the logistics of limiting yourself only to people in your area, that go to your place of worship…and the awkwardness that can go along with that…the online route is VERY full of potential.

My entire life changed just by making a little effort and putting myself out there.

Found a girl who is EVERYTHING I could have ever wanted or hoped for. Even my unreasonable standards were met.

And I thank God for her, out-loud, every day.

Pretty sure I already posted on here, but since the thread is being brought up again, I have to share:

I went to Steubenville with combined youth groups last month and the ride back I sat in the back of the bus - notorious for not being very Catholic in conversation. The stories being told back there shocked me. Highschool freshmen kids talking about how far they had gone, how best to get there and the best way to use someone sexually. High School. Freshmen. I’m a college freshman, and the fact that I hadn’t had sex with anyone, dated anyone, or even done something as simple as kissing someone sent them into shock.

Is it hard? You bet. But remember that for everything you are not doing now, what an incredible gift it is going to be to give that ALL to your future spouse on your wedding night. That’s special.

Please pray for your futures spouse and his/her purity, too.

I’m a 25 year old man and a virgin. Still looking for “Mrs Right.” People like us are indeed a rarity in today’s society. It’s amazing the responses i get from people when they discover i’ve never had sex. Yes, it’s hard as hell some days to put up with the garbage people throw at you because of your state in life. But it’s worth it for the Glory of God.
My son is in same status as you are. He is going to get married next year. His fiancee is a convert, also a virgin. They know each other from a free secular online dating site which has a category in profile to specify if you are a virgin or not(optional). With God’s grace, they found each other. God can do anything.

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Pray and God bless!

Actually, it’s not such a matter of not wanting to be a virgin as wanting to honor one’s sexuality the way God intended. There’s a huge difference between wanting to lose it just to lose it (and if that was the goal, any virgin could find a willing partner at any time). I think by the time you reach a certain maturity level, you realize there is more to it than just the physical act. The people who feel their virginity is “loser status” need to read ToB and read what the great saints have said about chastity.

I actually really admire you. I hope that I can be as strong as you and get to my 30s and still be a virgin (that is … if I never marry!). I don’t think you should give up on falling in love just jet though, 30 is never too old to fall in love and get married.
Personally I don’t think it would be worth having sex unless it was with the right person, under the vows of marriage. Sometimes I have trouble remembering this though, especially when my friends are mocking me and trying to set me up with cute (but not catholic) guys. But that’s when you just have to remind them why they love you by hitting them and telling them to shove off and leave you alone 😛

I’m not a virgin but really wish I was. In my 20’s I didn’t practice religion much but had sex with men, including men I didn’t have relationships with. At the age of 25 I made a vow to be celibate until marriage and 17 years later still am. I then came back to church, watched Theology of the Mind and know I made the right choice. I can’t help but think if I had stayed a virgin I would have met better men than the guys I dated. Incidentally my best relationship ever was with a guy who was religious and planned to be celibate until marriage. We broke up but stay in touch as friends.

Alot of people here tell inspirational stories and that is nice to hear.

I agree with people saying how society views virgins practically as lepers. It’s sad that a choice with good intentions is looked down upon by the majority of people.

I admire people who can abstain from sex for religious or personal reasons. I wonder how many people have sex just so they aren’t picked on for being a virgin. That is a shame.

I wonder how many girls have sex just to fit in with their peers. Female celebrities who brag about sex, Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga etc. don’t help either. Magazines that have covers that state different sex positions, etc. help corrupt girls as well if you ask me.

Btw I meant Theology of the BODY. Anyway society is too sexual and it is a shame. It used to be people had sex with maybe one or two people (and many were virgins at marriage)but now it’s considered freaky if this happens.

I really feel like there are many catholic virgins hidden in plain sight, but that is beyond the point. Even though i am a virgin i wouldn’t discount marrying a non virgin as long as they understand my views of being a devout catholic. I am not baptized yet, but i truly feel a calling to the catholic faith:thumbsup:

I think the issue that most Catholic women face is that we want to live chastely, but we also don’t want men who think us as housekeepers and baby makers. I have a an on again off again boyfriend and this comes up as an issue. He is probably a better Catholic than me, but has expressed the view that he wants me to stay at home and home school any kids. He is flighty when it comes to work and finances so that won’t happen. However, when I break up with him, I find that most guys want sex on the first date. This is a product of the hook up culture in the U.S. among Gen Y. I think that Lena Dunham and Carrie Bradshaw have done quite a bit of damage to the culture.

The analogous perception regarding men is thinking of them as “beasts of burden.” In other words: if you don’t care about men being providers (determined via salary, career, SES, whichever) then perhaps they won’t care about women being “housekeepers and baby makers”?

I have met men who aren’t looking for housekeepers or expect sex. Since I am not a housewife type at all I seek moral men who want a career wife. Sure they are harder to find but are out there. Sadly though yes most men want sex on the first date and it’s gotten bad due to online dating.
