Are there any contemporary musical settings of a whole mass?

While many parishes use the Mass of Creation because it covers the Gloria all the way down to the Agnus Dei, there is another one called “A Community Mass” that does have everything. You might like it because it has sort of a proper British feel to it. You can find it in the GIA Worship III hymnal.

I’m also seeing more and more of the Latin text and chant setting comming back- even with the younger crowd.
I’m singing for the cathedral choir for our Ordination Mass in June and we are doing a lot of chant and Latin.

The next day, I’m playing for one of the priest’s first Mass and he has chosen the chant setting for the entire Mass except for the Gloria.

I’ve heard the whole of Marty Haugen’s Mass of Creation and when done properly it can be beautiful.

Heres a clip of the Mass of Creation that I found on Youtube. It’s not half as reverend as our Parish Priest’s version but you get the general idea.

What I don’t like about the Mass settings used in the US is that the default memorial acclamation is “Christ has died…” At least A Community Mass has “When we eat this bread…” Haugen does take some liberties with the Agnus Dei, though.

When our diocese had its 2005 White Mass for Healthcare professionals, I chose the Mass setting used for Pope Benedict’s installation Mass (Missa D’Angelis?) and the choir did a splendid job with that one, especially the Memorial Acclamation and the Great Amen. It was just like I had heard it on TV. They sang it once again in 2006. The Memorial Acclamation is “Salvator mundi, salvanos, qui per crucem et resurrectionum, tuam liberasti nos.” This translates into, “Savior of the world save us for by your cross and resurrection, you have liberated us.” The current translation reads: “Lord, by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free. You are the savior of the world.”

While I don’t know of any that include settings for the entrance & Communion antiphons (they well may, but I have never been in a parish that sings the antiphons), but these seem to have all the rest

(New) Good Shepherd Mass (Somerville) – still my favorite for ease of learning – I think it’s probably the first English Mass setting I ever learned.
