Are there any Divine Liturgies served on Saturdays in the Los Angeles area?

My wife and I are finally established here in Los Angeles, and we’re wondering if any of the Eastern Catholic parishes serve Great Vespers and the Divine Liturgy on Saturdays. A glance at the websites that *are *up (some parishes don’t have one) didn’t reveal much either way.

I ask because I’m an organist by trade, and I have taken a job at a protestant church on Sunday mornings (the Roman parishes here have no interest in having or are too poor to hire an organist). Their church is too far from any of the eastern catholic parishes for us to make it to liturgy on time after the protestant service is over.

I feel like a fish out of water. I haven’t attended the Divine Liturgy in over a year. Ancient Faith Radio has helped sustain me on Sundays, but I really long to worship in the manner which feels most natural and beneficial to my soul.

Thanks for your help.

For Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic there is the Cathedral of St Mary in Sherman Oaks, 5329 Sepulveda Blvd. Saturday Divine Liturgy is at 8:30am. Sadly we don’t regularly serve Vespers except during Great Lent and Philips Fast before Christmas.

Thanks for the info! Sadly, that won’t fulfill our Roman obligation to attend Mass after sundown, but in the future we’ll make an effort to go anyhow. 😃

I don’t know of any of the Eastern Catholic parishes in the greater Los Angeles area that offer a Saturday Divine Liturgy (except for when that day is also a holy day). Great Vespers would only be offered on Holy Days as well. My parish, Holy Cross Melkite in Placentia offers Vespers every Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.
