Are there any Faithful Catholics voting for Pro Choice Candidates here?

I voted for pro choice candidates. The abortion issue is a myth. Politicians go around saying they are pro life to get pro life people to vote for them, that’s all. Yet there has not been one bill introduce by any of them to change the law and outlaw abortions, not one. Reagan and the two Bushes were in office for a total of 20 years and had Republican majorities for most of that time. So how many pro life bills were introduce to outlaw abortions? Can anyone think of one? I can’t. Therefore, I refuse to vote for some demagogue who says they are pro life in order to get a lot of votes from people too stupid to look behind what a politician says to what he does.
I forgot to mention in my last post (it’s too late to edit), it doesn’t matter what the politician says he/she is (whether pro-life or not); it depends on how they vote on the life issues. So if they are, indeed, lying, their voting record would show that and they would never be endorsed by a pro-life organization and would never be given the label ā€œpro-lifeā€. So if you get literature from some Pro-Life Coalition endorsing Mr. So-And-So and claiming that he is pro-life, you can rest assured that is accurate.

Here’s the thing - it’s not about political parties, but yes, it is. If there were such a thing as a pro-life Democrat, we could vote for him or her. But find me one first! They can’t really go against the party platform and expect to have much of a career, now can they? When the party leadership leans on them, they have to cave in and roll over. Thus, that political party is effectively null and void for Catholics.

Why can’t Catholics see that? Why are some Catholics so committed to that party that they’d rather ignore what the Church teaches and ignore what is really going on and just pretend that all issues are the same? One party is for everything the Church stands against! All of those non-negotiables are IN THE PARTY PLATFORM!!! Abortion, fetal stem-cell research, homosexual marriage, euthanasia, etc. They are all right there.

It’s as clear as night and day. No, the other party isn’t perfect but the platform includes a commitment to LIFE not DEATH for babies, old people, and marriage between a man and a woman. Get involved and improve the other party instead of continuing to betray the unborn by voting for the party of death.

Thank goodness I will cancel out your votes. Carly is pro-life and Meg is pro-choice for the first trimester only and is for parental notification and against partial birth abortion.

Brown and Boxer are both anti life, pro abortion up to and including partial birth abortion, big government, no tax we don’t like, Democrats.

This is not your grandfather’s Democrat party. No little guys allowed.
I had to go back and check AnimalGals profile and it did say Catholic? It is sad to think that 54% of Catholics voted in this administration. Tonight hopefully they will remove a little of their power to force their culture of death on all people even when the majority oppose it.

Sorry about you’all in California I escaped that liberal nightmare 12 years ago. It is such a shame, that beautiful state ruined by a bunch of think they know better politicans; people are leaving droves, all that will be left are the very rich (them) and the very poor (everybody else); kind of like a third world country. We must stop them before they do the same to the whole country.

I did. He, and I, loved it. I invite you to go with me! šŸ˜‰
Well, I guess we are a little of subject for a moment, but I lost my walking partner suddenly a few months ago and I still miss her a lot. Peaches a Bichon

I am so sorry about the loss of your dog, I say that in all seriousness. I have a bichon as well.

The simple and obvious solution to the problem is to have good pro-life candidates run for office so that we can vote for them without worrying about such insignificant things, such as, oh I don’t know… maybe, our taxes going up so high that we have to sell our home. When I lived in another state, the taxes on our family home went from $6000 to $9000 a year. We have since sold our home and moved to another state, where the cost of living is more affordable. Yes, education and taxes are important too. I’m voting for the guy who is voting for ā€˜no state taxes’, and who is voting for increased funding for healthcare, and I don’t care what his position on abortion is. In fact, I don’t know what it is. Why? Because those who want to have an abortion will do so, whether I can pay my taxes or not. They will have their abortions whether or not the poor in my community are able to get healthcare or not. I have great insurance. However, those in my community who don’t are important too. I will vote for those I believe who can address the concerns of the people, which covers many areas, not just one area.
Wow that is a really big increase on your taxes! But yeah I agree with you there is more then one important issue. And really I think by focusing on more the one issue one would likely do better in the area of decreasing abortions then for instance ONLY focusing on the single issue of abortions. Not to mention is it really doing any good if a prolife candidate has very antilife policies? For instance Sojo mentioned a candidate who wants to get rid of maternity care but is prolife. Sure she might be prolife but how is reducing or even out right getting rid of maternity care supposed to reduce abortions? And really it is not like any prolife candidate is going to outright stop anyone from getting an abortion like you basically said people who want abortions will still get them. But perhaps with good policies on things like taxes healthcare and education less people might decide that abortion is the right choice for them.

There are Pro life Democrats like Bob Casey and Rick Altmire, the late John Murtha was one as well as his successor Mark Critz. Those are from my state. I don’t vote in Texas. I am just glad that in January 2009 a village in Texas got to reclaim its idiot. Why is it we praise someone for their ā€˜pro-life’ stand and ignore the fact that over 5,000 Americans were killed in a war that was not necessary nor, according to the Vatican, did it meet the requisites for a just war. And in the process this ā€˜pro-life’ guy took the nation that with a ā€˜pro-choice’ president paid off the natioal debt we had for 60 years, had a balanced budget, with both an economy that was booming and extremely low unemployment and in the course of eight years put us in the worst economic condition since the Great Depression. The height of hypocriscy is the Rebulicans complaining that the Democrats did not fix in two years what the Republicans took eight years to screw up.

As for Republicans having a ā€œcommitment to LIFE not DEATH for babies, old people, and marriage between a man and a womanā€. I see you left out that it was okay to let people die because they cannot get adequate health care. It is okay to send U.S. soldiers to die in Iraq in a war that even the Vatican called an unjust war. It is okay to cause families to suffer because jobs were sent overseas and there is no one in the family who is employed. It is okay to allow the wealthy to pay no taxes but tax the little guy to oblivion. There is more to being pro-Life than banning abortion, a lot more.

But here is a question for you. Why in Genesis did God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of the garden and almost forcing Adam and Eve to make a decision? One might say that by doing so GOD was pro choice. Why did He not hide that tree in some obscure corner where it would not be noticeable. Or did He want man to make a choice?

If you want to espouse your politics you are on the wrong thread. Your arguments make no sense what so ever. This thread is about stopping the murder of millions of innocents and you incorrectly measure that against a war conducted by a volunteer army which lost 5000 people and probably saved 50,000 lives so far and the mad man that was responsible for all of those deaths is now no longer in the picture. If you want to place the moral values of the idiot in Texas against the idiot in the Whitehouse you lose.

You probably voted Marco Rubio for the Senate. Thank you for your vote. Tears were shed during his victory speech and I’m not afraid to say it.šŸ™‚

Just because you disagree with something doesn’t mean it ā€œdoesn’t make senseā€. And calling people ā€œidiotsā€ make you look credibility.

Makes me look credibility???

If you took the time to read the posts, you would notice I used the work idiot because that is what the poster I was responding to called President Bush.

My friend, it was obviously supposed to be ā€œlose credibilityā€. I had a typo. God forgive me. But I don’t think He will. I’m now condemned for all eternity. I will shred my clothes and walk the world with a millstone on my neck. No one else has ever committed the sin I just did. Shame, Rascalking, shame.

Methinks you need to lighten up a bit.

I did, and thank you, tonight was a step forward for America and the pro-life movement.

Me thinks you need to take the murder of millions of innocents more seriously.
