Okay, I’m putting on my Church of Christ minset for you and will prove that you are going to burn in hell because you refuse to believe in the unchangable infalible word of God if you are not a member of the one true Church…
forum.preachersfiles.com/

It was from there that I worked towards something else that turned out to be a different flavor. I stubled into the early church father’s writings and discovered answers to questions that I could not figure out or could not get satisfactory answers. I excused it with we just don’t have enough information. I was set up to attend Abilene Christian University on a 75% scharlarship to become a preacher but several things prevented me from going. My father-in-law was an elder, at least one of my brother-in-laws is an elder. 2 of my brother in laws are preachers…I have many preacher in our family. I’ve been studying bible one for 31 years and would have shoved it down your throat 2 years ago. But Catholicism made me more charitable. We used to believe that shoving it down your thraot to save you was the charitable thing to do so that you wouldn’t get your just reward of burning in the firey pits of hell for refusing to accept the truth …and You know the truth [was the line we fed you right after saying that.] You beliif is majorly disordered and you sound like a fool telling me I don’t know anything I’m talking about. That’s okay but if you bother to read my story from when I first started posting you might see a change over time. It took a while. You’re bible background is most likely severely twisted and grossly lacking. We had the Lord’s Supper, Mandatory Baptism, Rejected all Divorce, Had the Scriptural setup as stated in the bible Elders, Deacons and the preacher was separate, reject faith or grace only doctrine which is easily refuted by scripture,

But you are humoring me. My wife finds you funny too knowing from where we came.

First a link. If you think you are brave enough, try pulling that mouthy stuff on this website…

I will add that those folks are no longer fundamentalists but I bet you can present any question to them and they will come up with a valid answer to satisfy your curiosity. Now I don’t mean to bunch you directly in the nose, but you sound quite like I used to sound. So I know EXACTLY where you’re coming from to some level.

I’m really not going to prove that you’re going to hell because that would just simply be stupid of me to do now that I’m Catholic. But if you think your new faith can float go for it. But I will warn you about Preacher’s files. You better know your scripture flawlessly or they’ll eat you alive. The same would be true for the other COC to Catholic website. One or more of them not only went to ACU but used to be preachers. I’d recommend that if you want to continue fooling yourself you may not want to venture there.

So you are saying that Christ died for the catholics? I don’t buy it. If so, why isn’t there a line of commands telling us all how to go to mass, pope’s and everything else? “His divine power has given everything we need for life and godliness” it says, and also “All scripture is inspired… so that the man of God is thoroughly complete for every good work.”
Think about what you are saying. You are trying to minimize the Bible and even say that we are not sure where we got it and if we have every piece. I bet you can even tell me of a catholic that has a piece of the Bible that says what he wants it to say.
Anyone can do that and have.

I am probably beyond proving anyone wrong anymore with scripture.
NOw it is just a complete disregard for the Bible and people begin to doubt its inspiration. That was warned against also.
Did Paul, one of the greatest men who are written about never have to go to mass? Pope? Don’t you think that is kind of odd?

Now I do agree with you about the history that Catholics have gone way back. I worship according to the Bible. I don’t think you could argue that you do. That is my point. The Bible is second to the catholic doctrine. Or you would not be going to mass or confessing to a man rather that God.

Oh, and I looked at you info. Read a lot of it. Still, 90% is written by people you know nothing about. A lot of commentaries and not much scripture. You have to admit, as most catholics do, there is not much scripture that supports the catholic doctrine. I respect you, and will not speak in anger or hurt, but have to stand with healthy doctrine. Doctrine before preference, not the other way around.
Don’t go to the Preacher’s Files you would find them mean spirited in our opinion. However, you sound like you have much to learn. I’ve been studyng the early church fathers for over a year now. I’m obsessed about it because I didn’t realize their writings still existed until 2006. That showed me just how little regard my Protestant faith had towards them. There has been a massive conversion over the past few years of Protestants that aree seeking higher education like myself. Only I was Catholic and even went to the minor seminary… I should have known better and have been beating myself up for almost 2 years this coming October. I’m totally humiliated and would now never profess to be an expertat anythng. The beginning of wisdom is humility; I hope that’s true because I need as much wisdom as I can get.

I’m praying for you and wish you well on your journey. I do hope God brings you back. Don’t let pride from keeping from returning one day

PAX Christi tecum.

Much to learn? I abide by the word of God and yes I will always have much to learn. For you to say that means you have it figured out. I can tell by your tone. I know what I read is true without commentaries or other mens opinion.
I abide by the Bible as all authority for worship, my prayer, my congregational leadership and my speaking what is truth in love. It is very simple. Here we are at a crossroad because you do not. I take fundamentalist as a comment. Thank you. Everything we do as a church is in the Bible. Maybe I am not the one who should worry one day. I have example after example also. How many of your worship actions are approved by God with scripture? There is our difference. Show in the NT how you have the NT church. Pope’s and all that. If I follow the Bible wrong then pull out the scriptures. Show them to me. I would be glad and open to some new passages.

there is no official teaching on the issue in the Anglican church.
wow, I did not know that? and Anglicans honor the sacraments without an official teaching on life? That goes to show how much I know about the Anglican church, I am going to throw away my history books now. Is it true that the Anglican church has splintered again?

Where did you get that bible you’re using anyway?🙂

Humor yourself, read this, it will open your eyes, it did mine.

And why are you hanging out on a Catholic web site? (A rhetorical question)

Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, not 100 hate the RCC for what they properly understand the RCC to be, but millions hate the RCC for what THEY THINK the RCC to be. There’s a key distinction in there.

I don’t mean to offend you if I did, but this Church has been offending people for over 2000 years, and I’m only 39, a drop in the bucket so to speak.

Peace.

Yes, Yes, I have some books too that I could say where we got the Bible also. In fact, just looking in my library I have three. Most talk about the NT church. But let’s forget that part, who follows it?

Wow, so you are saying that catholics wrote the Bible now? Y’all need to make up your mind. Do you realize how many distorted books were written years ago that were claimed false?

Here is a quote from your book.
“There was far more extensive and continuous use of scriptures in the public service of the early church than there is among us.” Cath. Dic, 509.

I wonder why if the Catholic church claims to be the NT church, they admit that they do not use the scriptures as the NT church did.

Here is another one, “The very nature of the Bible ought to prove to any thinking man the impossibility of it’s being the one true safe method to find out what the Savior taught.” (Question box 67, 1913.)

You have a slew of people who have no consistency whatsoever. We follow the Bible. Always have. Always intend to. No words from books to desensitize our church. I think you would admit that there is a inconsistency in your leaders.

Another typical COC story… . This new man and his wife sound like my wife and me. Family wise and faith wise. even the way we discovered it together.

particularly this part:
We know that disputes in the early church were widely publicized and debated. There were many of councils and excommunications over them, and we have the records today. And we also know how Christians get upset today when people try to introduce false teachings and innovations into the church. Now, reading the church fathers, it’s also clear that the priesthood, bishops, the mass, veneration of Mary, infant baptism, and all other distinctively Catholic practices and teachings were firmly established by 100 AD at least. So are we to believe that all of these innovations were rammed down people’s throats by false teachers, and that the church became entirely apostate in less than 30 years? Where was the fight over these innovations? Can you imagine what would have happened? But it didn’t! There is no record at all of any disputes about these things in the early church. Rather, the fights were all about Gnosticism, Judaism, the God-man nature of Christ, the Trinity, etc. NOTHING about priests and bishops, or the pope.

It was certainly not an easy journey for us, or for our kids. I had to study intensively about many Catholic teachings, and learn that there is in fact scriptural basis for them. And I also had to learn that Christ came to establish and give authority to his Church, not just to have them write a Bible. Where did we get the Bible anyway, and how did people know what to do in church in the 300+ years before the Bible was firmly assembled? It was the Church all along.

Sorry crosshauler, your spins won’t work here, at least not with me. 😉

Of course I’m not saying the RCC wrote the Bible, PRESERVED IT is a more accurate saying.

Research confirms that the RCC would agree that there were many books written that are false, uninspired.

My friend, you have to be honest and not take the easy way out. On the surface, Catholicism may seem too good to be true and too hard to live, but it’s that truth that actually sets you free.

You, as all protesters, are alway in my prayers, for the unity of the one Church on earth as Christ established, not the 30,000+ delivering something just a little different. The reformation was a bad break-up, I agree, but with all relationships, there’s three sides to the story - his, hers and the truth.

As a side note, here’s a great web site I stumbled across one day while researching the reformation. I hope you find it useful. Perhaps you can just puruse it some time with a open heart. It’s from a protestant mind set with explanation.👍
