my main prayer intentions are atonement of my sins and the sins of all mankind until the end of the world, conversion of sinners, for all the dying people in the world especially those who will die within the next 24 hours and for relief and deliverance for all the holy souls in purgatory

i know that there are plenty of website devoted to the holy souls…but i don’t think there are any for the dying…

i can’t really find any for the dying…it’s usually prayers for yourself or for someone you know…not for the dying in general…

i end up saying this prayer that i made up myself

eternal father, i offer you, the bitter passion, agonising death, holy wounds, and precious blood of our lord jesus christ
in union with all the masses being said this day through out the whole world
in atonement for all my sins and the sins of mankind until the end of the world, for the conversion of sinners, for all the dying people in the world especially those who will die within the next 24 hours, and for an abundance of relief and deliverance for all the holy souls in purgatory
amen

i also say the prayer but with different intentions when i want to pray for other stuff…like the church, homeless people, for relief and deliverance from purgatory for all my deceased family, friends relatives benefactors and aquaintances etc…

do you think the prayer i made up is suitable enough…when i want to pray and i am in public or i can’t say the long version i just say something like…jesus, convert sinners, jesus assist and save the dying and take them all to heaven, etc

should i stick with the prayer i made up…(i change the intentions for differnt things i am praying for)
or is there set prayers that i could say
what do you think

Your prayer is very good.

Another one you might add is the prayer of the Pious Union of St. Joseph, whose members pray daily to St. Joseph, patron saint of the dying (St. Joseph died in the company of Jesus and Mary, as we would all like to do):

“O St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus Christ and true spouse of the Virgin Mary, pray for us and for the suffering and dying of today.”

I am partial to this one from St. Faustina:

O merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I beseech You, by the agony of Your Most Sacred Heart and by the Sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, was clean in Your Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day.

Heart of Jesus who suffered death’s agony, I beg you, have mercy on these poor souls.

And here are some pious invocations in line with your intentions:

Divine heart of Jesus, convert sinners, save the dying, deliver the holy souls in purgatory. Amen.

and

Jesus, Mary, I love you. Save souls. Amen.

There are prayers for the dying in this which I also particularly like:
Seven Offerings of the Precious Blood

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for the propagation and exaltation of my dear Mother the Holy Church, for the safety and prosperity of her visible Head, the Holy Roman Pontiff, for the cardinals, bishops and pastors of souls, and for all the ministers of the sanctuary.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blessed and praised forevermore be Jesus Who hath saved us by His Precious Blood Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for the peace and concord of nations, for the conversion of the enemies of our holy faith and for the happiness of all Christian people.

Glory be etc

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for the repentance of unbelievers, the extirpation of heresies and the conversion of sinners.

Glory be etc

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all my relations, friends and enemies, for the poor, the sick and those in tribulation and for all those for whom Thou willest I should pray or knowest that I ought to pray.

Glory be etc

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all those who shall this day pass to another life, that thou mayest preserve them from the pains of hell, and admit them the more readily to the possession of Thy Glory.

Glory be etc

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all those who are lovers of this Treasure of His Blood, and for all those who join with me in adoring and honouring It, and for all those who try to spread a devotion to It.

Glory be etc

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Thy Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all my wants, spiritual and temporal, for the holy souls in Purgatory, and particularly for those who in their lifetime were most devoted to this Price of our redemption, and to the sorrows and pains of our dear Mother, most Holy Mary.

Glory be etc

Blessed and exalted be the Blood of Jesus, now and always, and though all eternity. Amen

If I can’t remember a good official prayer, I make one up, just like you did.
I think the one you made is wonderful. 🙂

:yup: Me too! A good idea might be to devote a decade of The Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the dying.🙂 (I always say a The Chaplet if someone I know is dying or has just died) Most times I can’t be physically there with them as Jesus requested to St. Faustina but I am in hopes that it will be just as effective.

I don’t know what you mean by general prayers, but for the dying, I used the Rosary, the Divine Mercy, and 30-day Novena for the Holy Souls.
