Are there other Pagans here? Just out of curiosity, why are you here? 😃

Been there, done that during my two years of rebellion against my faith.

But wait… gatewood,. weren’t you Catholic recently or at least on your way to becoming Catholic? When did you become Pagan? :confused:

I was in fact Catholic recently, but I left the church and went back to what I missed the most and what I felt was true in my heart. I felt trapped by the church and that I was just wearing a mask to please everyone. I technically have been Pagan since I was 13, but I did convert to the Church in 2007, but again I felt stiffled I guess. So I left the church when I was 18, got involved with paganism, became an ordained High Priestess. After I got married, I felt like my husband wouldn’t be happy unless we were a Christian faith together, so he converted to the church this past Easter, but only a few months went by and he asked if we could leave and I asked him why and he said he 1. Didn’t feel anything and 2. Could tell I wasn’t happy at all (he wasn’t happy either).

Wow.

By the way, my cousin is a voodoo practicing Catholic. She goes to mass every day.

She calls herself an “advisor” and gets paid for her services.

I could never understand how one could mix the two belief systems.

I really guess not, now that I think about it. I guess I felt like I couldn’t be that free spirit that I had always been. I lost a lot of friends because I had cut them off because the Church didn’t agree with what their religion was or how their lifestyles were. I was completely alone and it was hard for me to let go of seeing the Earth as my Goddess, my Mother and I also believed Jesus to be an ascended master and I couldn’t get past that hang up.
 
thats completely the opposite of how i felt whenever i was pagan, i never felt truly happy till i became Catholic
 
I’m not a pagan, but I like the idea of it. I was looking into some sort of atheistic kind of neo-paganism bc I like the importance of nature in those religions. If there is a higher power, I think it is in nature, not a God or Goddess. But I do not believe in a higher power so I don’t think I can be neo-pagan. It’s definitely a cool religion though!👍
 
Dude! If you want me to change my status to “Catholic Pagan” I’ll do so in your honor! 😉

I’m not pagan, but a dear friend of mine is. Too each their own.
 
To be a true Christian, one must first be a Pagan.

On paganism and C. S. Lewis:
According to Lewis, paganism, therefore, is intricately interconnected to Christianity historically and theologically through their shared “myth.” In this sense, paganism, rather than the enemy or adversary of Christianity, was the precursor to Christianity, the older “sister” of Christianity. As Walter Hooper wrote of Lewis’ concept, “he viewed paganism not as an evil child of Satan but rather as a ragged and wild but essentially good uncle of Christianity.”

But if we are to take his ideas seriously, we must be willing to follow through on their implications.

First, the implications for Christian self-understanding are far reaching and potentially life changing. Suddenly Christianity is not merely an extension of Judaism, but the fulfillment of the expectations of all ancient pagans as well. Just as Jesus was the long awaited Messiah for the people of Israel, so Jesus is the long awaited dying and rising god of the pagans, the god-man who dies, just as the winter solstice observes death, and rises to life, just as the spring fertility rite celebrates life. Christ becomes the “Fulfiller” of human expectation to the pagan peoples throughout the world. If this is the case, then we, as Christians, must seek to learn more about our roots and learn to be more respectful rather than simply dismissive of our pagan brothers and sisters. The continual demonization by Christians of those who follow the pagan path must cease in light of these realizations.
 
The dictionary defines pagan as “neither Christian, Muslim, or Jewish”. So, I guess basically any religion that is not monotheist.
We Muslims consider Christianity to be polythestic. Jesus was a great prophet, not a diety.
