Are there any formal rubrics about the proper cleansing of one’s hands after the administration of the Holy Eucharist if you are an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist or a minister of care?? Including the purification of a pyx after bringing the Body of Christ to the homebound??

Hi,

I know of no such formal rubrics—other than common sense. There used to be a little container of water near the tabernacle that the priest would dip his fingers in after touching the Blessed Sacrament outside of Mass. I notice that the friars at EWTN have one. I expect that they will eventually come back into use in most places.

For now you can rinse your hands as well as the pyx in the sacrarium in the sacristy.
