Is there any verses in the bible, where Jesus specifically says, he is the word???
That’s John speaking, not Jesus. Where did Jesus say he was the word???John 1:1
I’d be even more interested in what you thought process is. I get the impression you might feel that scripture has no legitimacy except for words of Christ recorded by the evangelists. That’s John speaking, not Jesus. Where did Jesus say he was the word???
This inquiry is like any other muslim always asking:Is there any verses in the bible, where Jesus specifically says, he is the word???
John 10:22-33:Is there any verses in the bible, where Jesus specifically says, he is the word???
Mark 14:60-65:Jesus Is Rejected
22 That winter, Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Temple Festival. 23 One day he was walking in that part of the temple known as Solomon’s Porch, 24 and the people gathered all around him. They said, “How long are you going to keep us guessing? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly!”
25 Jesus answered:
I have told you, and you refused to believe me. The things I do by my Father’s authority show who I am. 26 But since you are not my sheep, you don’t believe me. 27 My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others. No one can snatch them from his hands, 30 and I am one with the Father.
31 Once again the Jewish leaders picked up stones in order to kill Jesus. 32 But he said, “I have shown you many good things that my Father sent me to do. Which one are you going to stone me for?”
33 They answered, “We are not stoning you because of any good thing you did. We are stoning you because you did a terrible thing. You are just a man, and here you are claiming to be God!”
TheSufi, you will find that all throughout the Gospels where Jesus’ divinity is challenged, he avoids the questions as much as possible, hence why he refers to himself as “the Son of Man.” because he wanted people to see it, to recognise who he was.Jesus Is Questioned by the Council
60 The high priest stood up in the council and asked Jesus, “Why don’t you say something in your own defense? Don’t you hear the charges they are making against you?” 61 But Jesus kept quiet and did not say a word. The high priest asked him another question, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the glorious God?”
62 “Yes, I am!” Jesus answered. “Soon you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right side of God All-Powerful, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
63 At once the high priest ripped his robe apart and shouted, “Why do we need more witnesses? 64 You heard him claim to be God! What is your decision?” They all agreed that he should be put to death.
65 Some of the people started spitting on Jesus. They blindfolded him, hit him with their fists, and said, “Tell us who hit you!” Then the guards took charge of Jesus and beat him.
This is the same question he asks mankind today, “Who do you say that I am?” Who is he for every man or woman, what’s important to Jesus is our personal response to these great questions: Who Am I for you? What do I mean to you?Who Is Jesus?
13 When Jesus and his disciples were near the town of Caesarea Philippi, he asked them, “What do people say about the Son of Man?”
14 The disciples answered, “Some people say you are John the Baptist or maybe Elijah or Jeremiah or some other prophet.”
15 Then Jesus asked them, “But who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter spoke up, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus told him:
Simon, son of Jonah, you are blessed! You didn’t discover this on your own. It was shown to you by my Father in heaven. 18 So I will call you Peter, which means “a rock.” On this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it. 19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and God in heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth. But he will not allow anything that you don’t allow.
20 Jesus told his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
John 8:58-59:6 I am the God who was worshiped by your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
14-15 God said to Moses:
I am the eternal God. So tell them that the Lord, whose name is “I Am,” has sent you. This is my name forever, and it is the name that people must use from now on.
Thank you for reading58 Jesus answered, “I tell you for certain that even before Abraham was, I was, and I am.” 59 The people picked up stones to kill Jesus, but he hid and left the temple.
So God doesn’t make it clear who He is, but expects you to figure it out, if not burn in hell forever.TheSufi, you will find that all throughout the Gospels where Jesus’ divinity is challenged, he avoids the questions as much as possible, hence why he refers to himself as “the Son of Man.” because he wanted people to see it, to recognise who he was.
Luke 9:18-21
Mark 8:27-30
Matthew 16:13-20
This is the same question he asks mankind today, “Who do you say that I am?” Who is he for every man or woman, what’s important to Jesus is our personal response to these great questions: Who Am I for you? What do I mean to you?
As when Jesus would be taken before Pilate and he would say: “Are you the King of the Jews?”, Jesus replied: *“Does that question come from you or are you repeating what others told you about Me?” *(John 18:33-34) In the same way, when we tell Him: “You are the Lord, You are God; You are the Son of God”, Jesus asks us: Do you say this of your own accord, or is it because you have heard it?
If you don’t believe Jesus is God, than on what authority could he tell you that he is? He came to tell of the truth and all of those who belong to the truth know his voice, Jesus is the truth, the way and the life.
Thank you for reading
Josh
Did you read the posts here?So God doesn’t make it clear who He is, but expects you to figure it out,
John the Baptist
11 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he left and began teaching and preaching in the towns.
2 John was in prison when he heard what Christ was doing. So John sent some of his followers 3 to ask Jesus, “Are you the one we should be looking for? Or must we wait for someone else?”
4 Jesus answered, “Go and tell John what you have heard and seen. 5 The blind are now able to see, and the lame can walk. People with leprosy are being healed, and the deaf can hear. The dead are raised to life, and the poor are hearing the good news. 6 God will bless everyone who doesn’t reject me because of what I do.”
No. Please read my post again. Like I said in regard to your thread question, If you don’t believe Jesus is God, than on what authority could he tell you that he is?if not burn in hell forever.
So that what you are saying?
The words of Jesus will produce the effect of a great truth in souls and many souls will surrender to his Love.41 Many more Samaritans put their faith in Jesus because of what they heard him say. 42 They told the woman, “We no longer have faith in Jesus just because of what you told us. We have heard him ourselves, and we are certain that he is the Savior of the world!”
TheSufi, you and I have had our fierce discussions and I apologize if I’ve ever come across as unreasonable or unloving. I hope you find what you’re searching for and I want you to know that I love you as a brother because of your search for truth, just as I search for absolute truth. So God doesn’t make it clear who He is, but expects you to figure it out, if not burn in hell forever.
So that what you are saying?
Perhaps you would like to clarify why it is important to you that he actually said that? If you know the Jesus in the Bible, he is the most humble man there is. He has the power and authority but you wouldn’t see him displaying any arrogance. He doesn’t lie and he doesn’t accept falsehood. When his followers said Jesus is Lord God, he didn’t deny it but accepted it. If he had denied that he is Lord God, he would have lied.Is there any verses in the bible, where Jesus specifically says, he is the word???
I know who God is. And if I did not know Him, He surely would not have me burn in hell. God is love. He would ask another who knows Him to speak about Him to the one who does not know Him. As I am speaking to you now. God loves you Sufi and he wants you to know Him. You will know Him by His Son Jesus as God speaks perfectly through Him. God is not a solitude. He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The eternal love between the Father and the Son has been gifted to the human race by and through their Holy Spirit. God is love, Love is where you discover Him. This love is Christ Himself. So God doesn’t make it clear who He is, but expects you to figure it out, if not burn in hell forever.
So that what you are saying?
Prophets of God are always right, their disciples and companions can be wrong. Why not listen to people who actually KNEW Jesus?
I see that the Gospel of John was referred to several times already.
“Oh no, don’t trust the ‘Apostles’ of Jesus, who yes knew him, trust Muhammad Rasulallah!”
(Trust me, bad idea)
.
