I read a new translation of Augustine’s Confessions over the summer. I was enthralled.

I love the Screwtape Letters. I see it as a must read for anyone.
 
Yes. “Cold Case Christianity” is one of my all time favorite books. I’ve read over 50. But that one stands out. A former detective examines the ways in which the 4 gospels tell the same story from different angles (like different eyewitnesses telling the same story but from different angles). And what he picks out will change the way you read the new testament.
 
While not a book, this article helped me when I was going through a hard time. I know it might not be by a Catholic, but it is still good and it still fits with Christian Doctrine.
