Are there standards for station of the cross?

Is their a right way and wrong way in praying the Ways of the cross. I mean a time to stand and a time to kneel. thanks. albert
 
There are cultural traditions that usually dictate for most people when they genuflect, kneel, or stand at various points of the Stations of the Cross. However since it is a devotion and not a public liturgy of the Church there can be a variety of acceptable practices.
