I’m (geekily) an adult who enjoys toys (tends to be almost life-like in realism rather than ‘action figure’ quality)…
Obviously I don’t get ‘street cred’ doing this and I don’t hoard or enjoy the richness of owning things that cost money…That’s not the point. I know most of you (if not all of you) won’t get it personally but it’s a genuine love of mine. You wouldn’t say there was anything cynical or wrong about a painter loving paintings or a singer loving music. Mine’s the same, if a little more geeky!!!
So…there’s the question…and I posted this a few days ago but on the wrong forum (hopefully this 'ns better) and it was taken down…Are there toys in Heaven?

To clarify, I don’t mean ‘do the toys we have now come with us?’ I mean that, like we often assume with music, is there a possibility of such a thing as ‘heavenly toys’? (AKA probably better than we could imagine right now)

I think there will be toys and things in Heaven for our entertainment and just for fun. Why not? 🤷🙂 That’s a good question. I like antique toys and antique things, so I don’t see why some would not be in heaven. I hope there are stuffed animals in Heaven.🙂

In a sense, God has a bigger toybox than we could ever imagine. Whatever things we enjoy in life, God gives us the joy we had in them and more.

There’s nothing ‘geeky’ about liking toys and using them as long as all other responsibility is met as an adult and the toys don’t become perv degenerate props.

Now, here’s my geekiness. If a day is like unto a thousand years, a thousand years is like unto a day…and the same today, yesterday, forever, as it was in the beginning it now and ever shall be, world without end…we get relativity and the continuum from the bible, true?
Now, heavenly manifestations on the planet were usually talked about in the Bible as having a thunderous noise, or bright light. Perhaps breaking sound and light barriers. As humans we have the equation e=mcsquared for relativity, true? but we know that is an inexact calculation. (Pure energy don’t go boom LOL) So possibly, what energy is missing in the equation? That can transcend all of heaven and earth? That can transform figures and things, to cause ‘miracles’…perhaps it is love or on the other side? However, if you believe that this love can transform, will your toys be there? Yet if all knowledge is to pass away, your toys are gone? or will love that endures forever, be there to comfort and give you joy?

Heaven is a spiritual place, though. Not material. I assume the world we will inherit after the Resurrection will have whatever we desire.

I am not as interested in toys. But I would like to have my own spaceship. Seriously. Just the ability to travel around the material universe and discover His perfected creation for eternity would be awesome.

I wonder if angels would build us something like that if we asked after the Final Judgment and our resurrection.

But in the case of toys, I don’t see why you couldn’t have them after you are resurrected. But before that, you won’t have a body to enjoy toys in the first place. So it doesn’t seem plausible to me that you will have them for that reason alone.

I suspect most humans in Heaven spend their time worshiping God and trying to help us. The rest of them are in purgatory and focused on purification.

Amen 🙂 New Heaven, New Earth. Also, I think toys are a good reminder of childhood and our days of innocence, and how we must always remember that we are God’s children. I wrote about this on my blog once; I believe Heaven, and Eternal Life, is a place where you get to be a kid again.

if there’s a tree of life, then there are birds, other trees, deceased pets… surely any created thing can hope for perfection in the afterlife.

Well, obviously not physical toys, at least not until we get our bodies back. But I could possibly see there being something like that, you know. God is ultimate good, and whatever you like in your toys are ultimately from him. (Their attention to detail, their perfection) Now of course I can’t give you a definitive answer, 😉 but I will say that whatever is good on earth will be in Heaven, God being the source of all Good. But of course more glorious and perfect since there will be no sin or anything to block our appreciation of it.

So maybe there will be! 🙂 Or maybe we’ll be so overwhelmed by the sheer awesomeness of Heaven, that we might look back on our old joys, like an adult remembers his childhood joys, how he thought nothing could ever compare to the joy of eating that chocolate bar, until he discovered more amazing things. That chocolate bar is good, but when you’re standing on top of the Grand Canyon, or over the Niagara Falls, it doesn’t even come close. It’s not on your mind in the face of sheer beauty.

Anyway, I know this is kind of deep. 🙂 But Heaven is a deep subject. As it should be. But I recommend a good book called, “Everything you ever wanted to know about Heaven, but never dreamed of asking” by Peter Kreeft and also “Heaven, the Hearts deepest longing” by Kreeft as well, those are great books that explain Heaven a lot better and more exciting than I can. 👍

And by the way, I don’t think your nerdy for wondering that. It’s completely normal to wonder if the things we love will be present in the afterlife! But we got to remember, we see through a mirror darkly, and what seems impossible to live without often ends up being just a shadow of something even more awesome that awaits us.

“you cant take it with you” holds a lot of water here I think. There will be no use for any wordly material things in Heaven, nor will it matter Im sure.

while we can’t know until later, I think what we believe about is a kind of insight into a person. your view already sounds sterile.

I think its like a Fourth of July party, with long lost family, friends, dogs; music and celestial fireworks. no harps, no latin choirs, no cherubs, no clouds, no wings.

You forgot beer. St. Brigid of Ireland said she wanted “a lake of beer for the King of kings”. 😉

There is the beatific vision.

I remember stunning my mother when I was a young boy when I asked her out of the blue if there are motorcycles in heaven. She really didn’t know what to say. (Please excuse my humor)
There are no bodies in heaven now. There won’t be any until the resurrection of the dead at the end of the world.
Will there be such things in heaven after the resurrection? I would like to know more about heaven now–but we all can find out such things very well later. I don’t think so, but how much do I know?

The short answer is what Isaiah said in the Old Testament and Paul repeats in the New Testament: eye has not seen, nor has ear hear, what God has prepared for those who love him. In other words, we don’t know.

But I see no reason why things that we enjoy on earth will not be present in heaven. Once the end of he world comes, we will have our bodies in heaven. That suggests to me that the physical will be incorporated into the heavenly reality. So why not have some toys to play with? 🙂

Does not Christ tell the rich man to sell all his possession and to follow Him? Possessions are of the world. Christ clearly states His Kingdom is not of this world.

Possessions, hobbies, toys are all things we come up with here on earth as a coping.mechanisms to get us through a less than ideal world.

In Heaven there is only perfection. The need for materialistic coping mechanisms will not be needed or not matter when being in the presence of the Father.

IMO If your personal view and hopes for Heaven are that of a Fourth of July party, your thinking is extremely limited. A Fourth of July party and all other man-made ideas and concepts are finite. They lose their charm and their fun over time.

Heaven, where there is only perpetual perfection that flows from He Who is infinitely good, will be far better. I am sure we will see our family members who’ve made it, all the choirs of angels (I’m not sure why you stated there wouldn’t be any cherubs in Heaven, considering they’re pure spirits and are in Heaven), the Blessed Mother, Christ, etc.

We no more know what it’s like to be in heaven than a mosquito larva knows what it’s like to fly.

What we do know is what we were promised, the beatific vision, i.e. eternal bliss. What that means materially is beyond the realm of human comprehension.

Reminds me of a joke I recently heard: an elderly couple were at a ripe old age of 90 due to the wife making sure they exercised, had good nutrition, and ate their bran flakes every morning. They both die together in a plane crash and go to heaven. In heaven, there’s a championship golf course with no green fees, great feasts every day, basically, anything you wanted. The husband turns to the wife and says “you and your ***** bran flakes! We could have been here 10 years sooner!” 😃
