Are there two St. Davids?

Fr. Serpa, in your reply to the question of whether there were any married saints who didn’t lead celibate lives, you mentioned that St. David ‘was sexually active to a fault’.

I’m sure my Welsh friends would be a bit bothered to hear their national Patron Saint so described!

Did you mean David of the Old Testament?

I have since identified the Saint David of the Old Testament, in my previous answer as King David of the Old Testament. I might add that he repented of his sexual transgressions and is regarded as a prophet as well as a saint. His feast day is December 29th. The universal Church prays many of his psalms daily.

St. David, king and patron of Wales, as you point out, is quite another saint.
