I am a muslim. My faith answers all my questions satisfactorily. Christianiy a best has the risk of elevating a diety o a devine status . Basicly raising up a man ( how ever great he is or however a noble prophet of God he was ) to be equal to God or Godhimself incarnate .

This is somthing that to my understanding is even against Judaism and not only islam. Indeed Judaism and Islam see eye to eye on this.

It is an unnecessary risk . You can meet God and say to him that in your attempt to worship him alone and taking care to give whats due to the person who deserves it, you worshipped the Abrahamic version or understanding of God . if it turns out that God is Jesus he will understand because before he came to earth and for thousands of years this was the correct undisputed underrstanding of Abrahamic God.

If it turns the other way around , then you have a big problem.

here is God , who ordered people slain for worshipping the calv ask you why did you take another man to worship with divinity beside me ?

beacuse he made miracles — well moses made miracles

because he was born of a virgin — well adam was born with no parents at all . Eve was created from adams body parts !

beacuse he died and appeared again — well God have arisen people from the dead before , couldnt he have risen Jesus as a man who died ? ’

beacsue the holy scripture that i have says so ---- well the Old testament doesnt say so at all except when you twist its interpretation . and in the new testament the ovverwhelming majority of verses that Jesus speaks is talking about a God that jesus consideres his own God .

because jesus said he is the son of god – well other people in teh OT were named the son of God .

why put myself at risk ?

As a muslim i believe in teh God of abraham

I believe in All the prophets.

I believe that jesus was a noble prophet and the messiah

I believe in doing good deeds and in charity¨

I believe that Gods mercy and Grace is the one tha saves me .

However i need to show the metal of my faith by obeying Gods commandements.

what am i missing? and why take nnecessary risks ( at best )

best reagrds,
🙂 I think you are a very good person that is temporarily lost to Jesus Christ .You have posted over 1000 posts on this Catholic forum, why if you are so sure of yourself? May Christ lead you back to the one true faith, you are not far from it .

That’s the story. But - so what ? 🤷 Even if true, you might as well say, “The Sky-Bunny died for our sins”: the two statements are equally relevant in practice. And how has anything died for the “sins” of anyone, if people still have to go to confession 🤷 ?

I am not even sure if I understand your analogy of this “sky bunny”, if you are a Catholic, you can answer your own question, no? 🤷

How do you know this, Distracted? Who has come back and told you this?

My story is similar to that of those who toald of an attraction to Busshism. One of the things about Bddhism that appeals to many is that it suggests that you don’t be dogmatic about anything, except what you have tried and found to work.

Have you heard of Thich Nhat Hanh, Distracted? He has some intersting thigns to say about combining one’s faith of origin with buddhist teachings.

There have been Catholics who have learned Zen or other mediation and found that they can combine those teachings with catholicism.

That shows a way for me to continue to admire those (including some of my relatives) whose catholic faith informs great compassion, and love to and from those who know then.

Buddhists look on what is called “sin” by christians as “unhelpful” . and try to avoid/atone for them, but not from some invisible god.

May all beings find peace and may they live in peace.

"*anyway… people are damned because they do not want God… or they do but they don’t want his ways…

but you cannot have God if you reject his ways… You banish God form your life when you reject his ways… that’s just the way it is… it’s reality… you can’t jump off a 10 story building, believing you will survie and actually survive… doesn’t work…

anywya… I don’t WANT to bleieve people are damned… I have been guilty of trying to believe a lot of things just because i want to but this is not usually one of them… and I try to get them on the right path so they won’t be damned…

God saves all who fear Him and are repentent… Yet most pepole just seem to care about the here and now and having THEIR way… so if they end up in Hell, it really IS because they want to… or thought they wanted to … or waht have you*"

Dear Distracted (from what?)

My Dad was a wonderful man. He attended more than the required masses, did charitable work, gave to the poor, supported his family, worked in soup kitchens, etc, etc, and much of this at great physical expense, as he in his later years had gouty artheritis in much of his body. When I sorted through his things after he passed I found stacks of awards and notes of appreciation from churches, institutions, officials, and many other people thanking him for the wonderful work he did or for the contributions he made.

This man of exemplary goodness lay screaming on his death bed wanting to be resucitated again and again, despite agonizing pain, because he feared the judgement of god.* My Mother, though she doesn’t have the string of paper acknowledgements that my Dad did, nevertheless deserves to have her name on them as well, as she did her own version of the same work or supported him in his. She is now declining, and her greatest fear is judgement from god.*

Is this what the faith has to offer to good people after eighty odd years of loving devotion to a church, a savior, and a god? Is this how your god welcomes his children back to his arms? Is this how we are to meet our fate, trembling and screaming, already in hell from the fear of judgement? Is this how you would treat your own children, having had a good Catholic upbringing? Is this the net mesaage that we are to glean from our years of guilt ridden practice of avoiding the alleged venial an mortal pitfalls of loving life for its own sake and doing good?

I see my Mom lying in bed, a shadow of her former vigorous, active self, yet shining with joy and gratitude at every leaf, at every bird, at every kind gesture, at every small thing in her life and in the glory of God’s creation, having given her life and love and resouces to all who knew her. And yet, she is terrified to die because of the legacy of guilt and fear that she has been given as her portion by the church, the representative of god’s love on Earth.

For my part, Distracted, I can see a new and glorified Catholic Church that is capable of transmitting a valid and useful gospel. Yet, despite this vision, I see all around me my contemporaries who are Catholic living in fear of meeting their loving god. Where in this is Goodness, where in this is Love, where in this are all the virtues? And how is it that the god that is to be met, who offered his own son to a bloody tortuous death, is less merciful in the anticipated judgement than the poor wretches who fear his embrace?

In the face of this, are you surprised that you find the stories that are on here? Are you surprised that a comedian can say that people are leaving their churches every day to find God? Are you surprised that Mark Twain said “Man is a Religious Animal. He is the only Religious Animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion - several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn’t straight. He has made a graveyard of the globe in trying his honest best to smooth his brother’s path to happiness and heaven.?” Are you surprised that Adolph Hitler said “It is great luck for leaders that men don’t think?” I’m not.

The Catholic Church has done great and wonderful things, as have many of its members. I have nothing but respect and admiration for that. I am a grateful recipient of some of that myself. But there is a darker element that creeps in as false piety that is aided and abbeted by many clergy and by those such as preach and fear the wrath of a judgemental god. Fie on you all who are so. You are the ruination of souls by complicity to fear and separation. That is hell, and one need not die to experience it. One need only subscribe to any religion which has distorted the Love of the Father into dogmatized, ritualized, fearmongering about punishment, instead of elevating the Risen Christ into His place as the exemplar and giver of every good and perfect gift, and the giver of the Life blood of the Sacred Heart which pours out unto all who will have it.

If there is a Satan, he and his minions preach fear and separation. If Lucifer, the Light Bearer, fell, it is because he fell for his illusion of separation. Are you so arrogant as well to attribute the power to a mortal to “banish God?” Not even the damned see their own suffering but for the light of God, and if they suffer it is because the do not comprehend their never broken
at-one-ment with their Creator. The God we worship is Love and Light, and we support the glorification of his children as transparent in act to His goodness. What self induced fate awaits those who would decieve God’s children into fearing their own Source rather that edifying their potential as Good?

*I have used lower case in some instances here deliberately to signify that *in that context *“god” etc. are manufactured illusions.

from experience, that best of all teachers.
My story is similar to that of those who toald of an attraction to Busshism. One of the things about Bddhism that appeals to many is that it suggests that you don’t be dogmatic about anything, except what you have tried and found to work.
i’m pretty dogmatic about obvious truths… like the one that tells me if i jump off a tall building, i am likely not to survive…
Have you heard of Thich Nhat Hanh, Distracted? He has some intersting thigns to say about combining one’s faith of origin with buddhist teachings.
Buddhists look on what is called “sin” by christians as “unhelpful” . and try to avoid/atone for them, but not from some invisible god.
sin exists. To say otherwise is to lie to yourself. It is a sin to, for example, kill someone. Whne you kill someone, you also kill yourself… and destroy your relationship with God, who is Love…
God cannot and will not abide where there is sin. He is absolutely pure and perfect…

May all beings find peace and may they live in peace.
there can be no peace withoiut justice… and there is an awful lot of injustice (sin) in this world…

Of course there can be external peace without justice. Totalitarian regimes can be very peaceful places to live as long as one does not upset the regime.

There can be internal peace without justice. Wrongly sentenced prisoners can find peace in spite of the injustice of their convictions.

"* This man of exemplary goodness lay screaming on his death bed wanting to be resucitated again and again, despite agonizing pain, because he feared the judgement of god.
*] God is perfectly holy… it seems that your father knew this better than most… more PROFOUNDLY … Maybe the fact that he had this fear at the time of death actually means he DID know God… (not that something was wrong…). .
Is this how we are to meet our fate, trembling and screaming, already in hell from the fear of judgement?
