You know, I really don’t understand you guys at all.

Sometimes the feeling is mutual. That is why, if we are interested in learning, we will continue to exchange information, request and offer clarification. I have participated in this thread because I thought I had something to offer, but also because I might have something to gain.

To that end, many of the hypotheticals and “what ifs” posted on these fora are nothing more than thinly veiled attacks on our faith. I beg your forgiveness if I cast my net of suspicion too broadly.

I am not sure that the word “attack” is appropriate, because it entails “hostility”. How about using the word “questioning”? It is emotionally neutral.

I agree that I am positing these hypotheticals to question your belief system. I hope to do it in a respectful and polite (though forceful) manner, and if I failed, I apologize.

I have two reasons for it. One is that these discussions are a stimulating mental exercise. The other one is that I want to stay open to the possibility that I am wrong, and all these questions I am asking have a perfectly rational answer to them. I know that I can never think of all the possible answers - it has been demonstrated on these boards many times. Posters on your side have surprised me with a new approach to some of these questions.

I regret to say that it did not happen in this particular thread.
