(* CCC 2290 The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine. Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others’ safety on the road, at sea, or in the air.)

(** CCC 2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others. the passion for gambling risks becoming an enslavement. Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so slight that the one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.)

Good post tee_eff_em.

Basically don’t be reckless with your free will. Free will is a gift that we shouldn’t abuse. Casuing yourself uncessary bodily harm, putting yourself in danger, causing yourself to become impaired etc. None of that is good.

Drinking and gambling in excess is not good.

It’s important to remember that you shouldn’t love “things” or “actions” more than you love God.

If you don’t overindulge, you’ll have some for later…

Enjoy!

Only overindulge in things that are unlimited. Like God’s blessings.

I had a piece and put the lid back on the box:( now I can have a piece tonight with a cup of tea!! You saved my day!

I have trouble allowing myself to overindulge in God’s blessings. I know my husband and children are part of those blessings, but sometimes I get too wrapped up in life to enjoy the other blessings God gives me. Something I need to work on I suppose.
