I have been told that some of the terms that I use are offensive things such a femi-nazis and liberal, could be consider sinful because of a lack of charity, what do you think?

I know what both terms refer to, I use radical feminist instead of femi-nazi,I have never been called down by saying liberal though:eek:

I’m not sure about sinfulness or charitability-- I think both of those would depend upon the context used (also- I haven’t looked at your specific usage).

but I do think those terms have added to a decrease in communication because they have become such wide-blanket terms.
Or they have been overly-used as a quick come back. Like a shooting from the hip kind of response rather than an explained and thorough kind of response? make sense?

Use of labels generally aren’t clean communicating because the definition and attempt of clarification of the label itself can take forever.

I think that femi-nazi is not acceptable. I mean, I know what you mean by it, but it puts my back up. And if it does that with me, what reaction will you get from people who don’t understand. I don’t know if I would call it a sin or not…I think that “nazi” is a red flag kind of word. I personally would consider that it could be a cause of scandal with some…
I think radical feminist is a much better choice. It says what it means, & folks will know where you stand. (But thats 👋 just me…).

“radical feminist” IMO is much more likely to continue the discussion in a productive manner.

“liberal” will always need defining I think.

Context of both the statement and the conversation is critical.

It is easy to"off" someone by applying a disdainful label; it is a form of tribalism - you and the hearer are “in”, and the labelee is “out”. it is also very prone to judgementalism and to a very dismissive attitude towards the one labeled.

Disagreeing with another’s position or statement about something is perfectly acceptable. However, many people who use labeles are exceedingly dismissive of the one labeled; they too are children of God, but are not being treated with the respect due them as a child of God.

I was in Viet Nam, and Jane Fonda still rankles me. However, if I stoop to labeling her, I have put myself in a position of not hearing her should she recant of her prior behavior; and it puts me in a position of not being able to forgive her; I have her “pegged”. And I don;t really think that is what the Gospels call me to.

Oh Tyler Smedley you’re such an out there bad boy conservative rebel, taking on hordes of femi-nazis and liberals like that. A no-nonsense call a spade a spade kind of guy… the topic seems like it’s tounge in cheek, no interest in discussion…yawn.

Well that was kind of harsh… 😦 thought were wern’t labeling people? I am a good my opinion is that of the Church boy and I want to make sure that I wasn’t offending people which judging by your response…well I can’t tell.

Others thank you for your comments, I will do my best to refer to the radical feminists as radical feminists, it is hard though at Western where they are very agitated much like cynic and angry about everything to the point where they almost seem to hate men…any ideas about how to approach that?

Depends, can you look at these people you are calling femi-nazi or liberal, and see in them the face of Christ, and recognize that they are created in the image and likeness of Almighty God, and love them as you love yourself? If not, I would say you have a problem with charity. If so, congratulations because you’re on your way to sainthood.

If it makes you feel any better my boyfriend still refers to Asian people as “Oriental.” He’s not doing to be offensive, I guess that’s what he heard when he was brought up. He’s getting better though!

yup :clapping:

Tyler,
Don’t forget that we are living in a ‘touchie’ type of culture today. It is that almost ANY word can send someone in a rage.

Words actually don’t hurt, it’s the enotion and the meaning the OTHER person puts on that word that makes it hurt.
It sounds like a double-standard, and iti is.

Maybe you should try something like:

“Female homosapiens who have a belief in a more prominent role for themselves in society in comparison to male homosapiens of equal stature”

and

“Indivduals whose social and political beliefs are divergent from the traditional and archaic Judeo-Christian value system”

Unfortunately, it could lengthen your posts considerably. 😃

Seriously, others have covered it well. I try to remember the old saying, “You can attract more flies to honey…”

Kindness.

Turn the other cheek.

Preach the Gospel; and if necessary, use words.

How about female anger-challenged individuals – seekers of a way to eradicate men entirely from the planet?

Oh wait, that’s a bit too long, too. Hmmm. :hmmm:

Perhaps, but sometimes you just feel like swatting a few, or at least shooing them away! 😉

Is the term femi-Nazis offensive? You have to ask? Clearly you are overdosing on Rush Limbaugh.

…offensive??? I guess it all depends upon conotation or intent… if your motive is to hurt, or lable, or pidgeon hole people because you don’t have the intellect to express yourself it could be offensive or juvenile… but, if you mean it in chairtable way, then i would think "no harm no foul… only you can choose your motivation… sometimes it hard for others to see your intentions just reading it off the screen…

i hope this helped…👍
