No, these lunatics are for real. They protest miltary funerals saying that the war in Iraq is a chastisement for America’s tolerance of homsexual activity.

I believe there is a bill that now makes it a crime to protest within 500 feet of a military funeral as a result of their actions.

These folks are sad and misguided.

The whole family that runs this church are lawyers, they go into towns and if not allowed to freedom of speech they sue, that’s how they make their living.

They’ve been here to Alabama…seems like last year, a soldier pasted away…

Anyway, my Dad knows a man that owns a 18 wheeler, you know a big rig…they love to line them up along the road to block the mourners from seeing these folks, lined up with their God Hates Fags posters…

It’s just horrible.

I think you’ll find that several truckers and motorcycle clubs (mostly composed of veterans) will also appear to block them from being able to disrupt the funerals. They have made a project out of it, which I think is pretty darn cool of them.

That’s awesome! nearly all my family was in the military, and my grandfather received a purple heart for a wound he got from WW2. THese people are going to be in the town I grew up in, and I am MOST angry that I can’t get there in time to be part of the anti-protester protesters that some people are forming. (I guess this is all real and not a joke, I got an email about it and thought it was joke spam mail LOL)

The Group claims to be “Baptists” so I would assumed they would. Most Baptists though disagree with them. There are Baptists in the military.

The group is also extremely Anti-Catholic.

It already has. The father of one fallen soldier whose funeral they picketed sued them and got an $11 million judgement against them.

I hope you don’t have very high expectations. The Phelpses are pretty much the First (and only) Everybody-But-Us-Is-Going-To-Hell Church. They are not affiliated with any Baptist council or organization in spite of being officially named ‘Westboro Baptist Church’. WBC is composed essentially of Fred Phelps and his large family of lawyers. A couple of his children have since turned against him; we can only hope the rest, and even old Fred himself, realize just what they’re doing and saying.
