Catholic nuns stood by in protest with Muslim women who were being forced to remove their Hajibs (head coverings) by racists within the government.

Are they traitors to Christianity for standing by their fellow women who worship God, but who do not accept that Jesus is His Son (yet still see Jesus in high honor)?

Who would God approve of more, the nuns who loved their enemies?

Or those racists who attempted to forcefully impose their religious will upon those daughters of God who worship Him in the Muslim faith?

You would have a stronger case if you didn’t insist on characterizing the others as “racists” unless you have some Magic 8-ball into the soul I don’t know about.

I wasn’t aware that Islam is a “race.” I thought it was a religion.

Well, because the Muslims were mostly of non-white races and because there was a great deal of racism involved in the statements they made about protecting the “motherland” and such, it’s easy to see that they were racists.

But, do you think that these Catholic Nuns who defended the rights of the Muslim women to wear their Hajibs because of their religion were traitors?

The Nuns (who were overwhelmingly white) were not forced to remove their headcovers.

i think the nuns (from the small amount i know of the story from your post) did the right thing and are living up to the “love your neighbor as yourself” standard set forth by Jesus.

Why the fact that they were racists affects the legitimacy of the question is beyond me.

But OK, if the term racist offends you so much,
remove it from the question.

Are these Catholic Nuns who protested against a government that wanted to repress Muslim women for wearing Hajibs (while not doing the same to The Catholic Nuns) wrong for doing so?

Catholics should defend the right to religious liberty.
Amen.

I believe Jesus looked at His sisters and was proud of them that they stood by and put themselves on the line for someone that doesn’t even believe in Him as The Messiah (yet love Him as Prophet and especially that love His mother as well).

Very well put.

I’ve personally been involved with Protestants in common groups that did charity work.

I’ve heard of Mormons and Catholics manning soup kitchens and here I was told of how The Mormon Church came to The Catholic Church’s rescue when their church (the building) was damaged.

I think that God is happier when we work together than when we fight (even with those who speak against Him or don’t believe in Him as we do).

🙂

Because the oppressive government in question is white and the majority of the Muslims were non-white and because white Nuns weren’t harrassed about their Hijabs (head coverings) and because of the racist government’s members comments on “racial purity”, it, to me, is obvious that part of this persecution is racism.

Islam is gaining an incredible foothold in Europe and there are Muslim neighborhoods that are exploding.

Could you provide a link or something to the specific story you are referencing?

I’m working on that. A friend of mine has the information.
I’ll get it up as soon as I get it.

🙂

first it’s the muslim women who are forced to remove their head coverings, next it’s the catholic nuns. they’re looking out for the religious freedom of everyone.

I’m sorry, I have an incredibly evil sense of humor, but that might be a poor choice of words. :rotfl:

Ahem.

I do think the nuns did the right thing, though.

:o

Ooops. You’re right…poor choice of words.
No pun intended to our Islamic brethren here.

As for the nuns, I think that it was outstandingly “Christian” of them to stand by those who aren’t Christians.

Again, I think Jesus gave them a thumbs up.
