I have often heard that traditional/orthodox seminaries, convents and monastaries are growing while the more liberal ones left over from the 60-70’s are dying off. Is this true? Could anyone point me to some article that discusses this growth, its magnitude and it’s possible causes. I would like to believe it is either TLM or young people getting disheartened with the liberalization of the church.

I can’t point a particular article to you, but I can tell you this: I have some friends in the seminary of the Institute of Christ the King. The seminary is filled to capacity, yet the pre-seminary formation houses throughout Europe and North America are packed. Some pre-seminary candidates are waiting two to three years to enter the seminary, while a new wing is being built onto the renaissance palace in Italy that houses the seminary. According to one seminarian, if room runs out, they will simply sleep in the corridors. 😃

Yes, the traditional seminaries are growing!

I second that.

I love and support the Traditional Latin Mass and Traditional Catholic Seminaries

Here is a link for an order of Dominican Sisters in Ann Arbor Michigan that are bursting at the seems with growth. I get their newsletter and the average age of their sisters is 23 I believe.

It’s good to know that the traditional orders of priests and nuns are growing. I think it affirms what we are seeing with the resurgance of that TLM.
