Are we a twisted version of God's Image

Since we are created in the image of God, is there some core of justice in ourselves that knows what we deserve. For instance does a terrible murderer know down deep that he deserves to go to hell?

Jesus said by our own standard we will be judged. Is Jesus saying that we people, who are created in God’s image, in the basic building blocks of our creation, we have the same judgement as God? Because we know from scripture that it God who judges all the world on Judgement day. Is the thing that makes us so guilty of sin, is that we are like God in the core of our creation, yet we do evil anyway?
 
I think I would say broken rather than twisted.

And yes, we have a “shadow” of the memory of the one who created us which draws us back to Him.

(for clarification,it will be God in the person of Jesus Christ who will judge us - 2Corinthians5:10.)
