There is no theological reason for us to avoid the Tetragrammaton. We are encouraged to avoid using the name casually and liturgically out of respect for some people’s sensitivities.

Like this: JHWH (German transliteration) or YHVW (English transliteration). If I had the Hebrew alphabet I could give you the yod-he-vav-he, but I don’t.

“Tetragrammaton” simply means “four letters.” You don’t need the vowels.

I see the term Tetragrammaton as more of a technical terminology than anything else in the broad spectrum of Greek as well as Latin derivative languages.

Of course Catholics should have no fear invoking the Holy Name. The instruction otherwise is primarily out of deference to Jewish sensibilities.
