The loneliness we feel is our alienation from God. The drive to find other intelligent life is similarly motivated.

First of all we are not alone…we are all part of a family…a community…a kingdom on earth via the Sacrament of our Baptism and hopefully living our life to join the eternal Kingdom in Heaven !Are we alone as in… are we the first universe our Lord has created?
However your question is a great one ~ one that I myself have often wondered. Though I will admit, I am not at a place that I no longer wonder about all that. Now, I wonder about trying to be part of the Body of Christ here…now…this moment. My “wonder” now is about how to bring my family…my friends…those I meet…closer to Jesus…introduce them to the wonders of our faith…the beauty of the Sacraments…the hope in forgiveness…the healing grace in the Eucharist.
Is there anything wrong with wondering about the rest of the Universe? Absolutely not! For me??? I have enough wondering about the small part I have been entrusted with in this one…however, I will gladly read what everyone else has to share.
