Homosexuality seems to have been accepted by most people as a normal, alternative lifestyle choice. The media are continually brain-washing people to think that homosexuality is a natural occurance that is no different from heterosexuality.

I have noticed that there are more and more gay related shows on television. In America, you have The Ellen Degeneres Show, in which the host, a well-known lesbian, frequently uses her show as a platform to promote her beliefs concerning gay marriage, gay adoption, and the gay lifestyle in general. The hit show Will and Grace is another example. This show glamourises the homosexual lifestyle and is designed to make people become more accepting of the gay population. Then there are films like A Brokeback Mountain which tells the story of the lifelong romance between two gay men. I am sure you can think of many other examples. It is my belief that the media is responsible for the widespread acceptance of homosexuality.

Yesterday, I watched a show on British television named Gay to Z. The show is about homosexual teenagers and this particular episode presented a day in the life of a proud and openly gay teen. The worst thing about this show is that the topics of conversation were highly explicit; they talked intricately about gay sex and gay relationships. I was absolutely horrified that they would put this show on in the mornings. A show like this would have been unheard of even ten years ago. It was absolutely disgusting! Shows of this nature are responsible for the gay culture that we now have. Homosexuality now has the respectability that it never had in the past.

If the current trend continues, homosexuality will begin to have an equal status with heterosexuality and may even be taught in schools. The morals of our society will decline, and religious people will be accused of hatred for their beliefs regarding homosexuality.

The media is responsible for the widespread acceptance homosexuality now enjoys, and I think Catholics will be persecuted for their beliefs on homosexuality in the future.

Yes and we need to fight back now.

Catholics must return to the public square.

Yes and we need to fight back now.
I think it’s too late for that now. There just isn’t enough Catholic who would be able, or even willing, to fight for change. The homosexual rights movement now have too much power. The only way we can reverse the “progress” they have made is to change the morality of our respective nations - and that is no easy task.

IF I watch those programs and patronize their advertisers and do not complain to the network and the sponsors, I am complicit in the evil they are promoting.

this is terrifing i do not want my daughter exposed to this . what can we do as a group to put these guys backin the closet. i think some of these people do this as a fad -dont care -values in life are what is important i am tired of all this what can be done -this is so upsetting they are destroying this world sodimom and gimora i spelled that wrong we need god -and not all the immorality - it goes right to the devil

in God we trust -

Watching the shows will help to boost ratings and keep them on the air. However, even if all Christians stopped watching these shows, there would still be a huge segment of society which would continue to do so.

I think complaining to the network is a great idea. Perhaps this would motivate them to think about the kinds of messages they are sending the viewers. Maybe they need to be reminded that they help to shape the morality of the nation in a big way?

In the 1960’s, an English woman named Mary Whitehouse decided to “clean up t.v.” She campaigned tirelessly for three decades and was able to remove many offensive television shows. Whitehouse managed to ensure that television shows did not help to ruin the morals of the nation. Since her retirement and death, the standard of television programming has severely declined. I hope the future brings another individual like Mrs Whitehouse who is able to stand up and fight for good Christian morals over the airwaves. Mary Whitehouse should be an example to all of us. She knew the influence television had on the nation, and she did something about it.

I’m pushing 50 and grew up with the TV series soap. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soap_(TV_series Billy Crystal was the popular homosexual/gay brother in this series. Since Soap there has been a landslide of media pushing the gay agenda. I feel most sorry for my children’s generation. They have been saturated and brainwashed from the beginning.
Catholics are and will continue to be persecuted for their beliefs. I say are because Catholics are already being first persecuted by Catholics - sometimes by bishops, priests and laypeople. This is happening in any diocese that allows Catholic adoptions to gay couples and in parishes that cater to openly gay people by allowing clubs that support their lifestyle. Persecution is already here for those that protest this within the Church.

Of course not. No one is being forced to accept it. It’s more like encouraging people to stop meddling in other people’s love-lives. It’s become a bit of a mess, but just know it’s not something you *have *to accept. 😉

Now, when someone in your family turns out to be of a homosexual orientation, then, you’re free to go crazy. 😃

It already is. In one of the New England states a man tried to fight the promotion of homosexualtiy in the curriculum of his 5 year old kindergardener. The school refused to even discuss it with him. And they refused to notify him before these things were being taught. It is now up before the Supreme Court…because all of the lower courts of that area have upheld the schools right to its decision…as if it knows better than parents and can decide what children need to be taught about social issues…even over a parents objection. Sounds a lot like what Communism did to children when they taught atheism.

The morals of our society will decline, and religious people will be accused of hatred for their beliefs regarding homosexuality.
***They already are. Are you paying attention? Anyone who disagrees with or preaches against homosexuality is being called racist, bigoted, homophobic, etc. And the supporters of homosexuality are even trying to make it a hate crime to talk about it. What shall happen in Churches when a priest cannot call a sin a sin? What is going to happen when parents cannot teach their children that a sin is a sin? they will start taking our children away from us…calling us unfit parents.
People, I fear it is going to be really bad!!!

How do Christians and other concerned individuals meddle in the lives of the gay community? We do not discriminate against them and we never hate the individuals. Although we believe homosexuality is a sin, we are not trying to force everyone to agree with us. We just want them to live their lives in private.

However, the media is forcing the homosexual lifestyle on us by creating shows like Will and Grace. These shows make people more accepting of homosexuality, and undermine the long standing morals of the nation. I respect the rights of homosexuals, but I resent the fact that I am being exposed to offensive and sexually explicit content on a daily basis. Although Christian adults know the difference between right and wrong, our impressionable youth will unquestionably accept the tainted morality that is presented to them via the broadcast media. Shows like Gay to Z are a negative influence; they undermine the morals which good Christian parents are trying to teach their children.

Christians are not forcing anyone to accept their views. The liberal, secular elite are the ones who are trying to shape the morality of our nations; and they are the ones who are discriminating against Christians.

its the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)

so how can we start a cultural movement to bring back masculine Christian values in the West without extremism e.g. Islamic republics, 3rd reich?

Governments in most countries reflect the wishes of their electoral rolls; they give them what they want. I don’t necessarily agree with this, but in a recent study on the history of marriage I found that the role of the state in regularising events which used to be the domain of the church (births, namings (christenings), marriage and deaths) is increasing in many countries. In most western countries, all these functions can now be provided by civil celebrants. In most countries of romano-celtic origins, the Church is no longer the dominant regularising authority of the milestones of human life. The state has taken over.

The state feels it is obliged to give equal status and opportunity to all in society, regardless of belief, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status. Whether you like it or not (and I don’t) that’s the way it is in modern culture.

I don’t know if you say the church has failed, or the church has become irrelevant, or that the modern bop has taken over and the purpose of life are reduced to eating, sleeping (with whoever), working and playing. And spending your money.

Man has become obsessed with his “rights” instead of his responsibilities to God, his family, and his fellow man.

They have their priorities wrong. And not much is going to change it; the only place to find your solace is in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Turn to God with love and be filled with His love.

The love of the Heart of Jesus is the answer to the ills of this modern world.

Yes, but don’t limit it to the homosexual culture alone. This wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t turned a blind eye to the general decline of sexual morality in this country and others. Heterosexual filth is no more acceptable than homosexual filth. They are not just teaching the alternative lifestyles in the schools–they’re teaching a whole lot of other things too. Things like “We know you are going to have sex, so here’s how to prevent getting pregnant, getting an STD, etc.” Everything but respect for your body and chastity. When the first worm crawled out of the can, the whole can followed.

We’re at a critical juncture. While we consider homosexual acts disordered and sinful, for religious reasons, we can no longer count on the cultural discrimination gays experienced as a matter of course throughout Western history. Those days are ending, as they should. Discrimination is wrong. As long as one’s sexuality doesn’t harm others or break the law of the land, I don’t care about it. It’s none of my business. Human sexuality is an extremely complicated and personal matter.

It will become your business if your children, or young relatives are taught that homosexuality is normal at school. This isn’t about discrimination; this is about the relaxation of morals within society, and the effects this will have on the Church in future generations.

Yep, and those laws that are being constantly pushed in State and Federal legislatures to define “Hate speech” to include speaking out against homosexual behavior are for our own good as well. Government knows that it’s better for us if we’re not homophobic bigots. 😉

I see a time coming, in the not too distant future, when there will be a serious threat to free speech and freedom of religion in this country. As has happened in other countries, I see laws being passed that muzzle any anti-homosexual discourse.

The fact that the Church separates the sin from the sinner will make no difference. God help us.

Secular humanist views will become the only acceptable beliefs in the future. I think freedom of speech is a relic of the past, especially in the UK.

We might be persecuted for our beliefs in the future - think again! Like, in the present … I teach at a large public university, and there is no way that I would be anything but publicly ostracized and vilified if I spoke out against … I don’t believe in the idea of a “homosexual agenda” … don’t even know what to call it.
We shouldn’t discriminate - we shouldn’t “force em back in the closet” as some other poster suggested! That’s pretty horrible. I think it’s biological, though - believe me, if you grew up with my lesbian sister, you would think the same thing. However, I don’t think AT ALL that that makes homosexual relations okay, the same way that it’s not okay to have sex outside of marriage.
I am very disturbed by the glorification of homosexual relations - the way it’s talked about in such sexually explicit terms, the way certain segments of the way community (ie most of it) promotes multiple partners, etc. It’s pretty horrible.

I can see it easily happening. The law will say that hate speech is a crime and not allowable in the land. It will be persecuted.

Then they will say that Christians…especially Catholic Christians…promote hate speech and crimes in their services. For we follow Christ, and His story is in the Bible. The Bible contains words that are against homosexual behavior, fornication, etc. Therefore, we are promoting hate crimes and speech. Therefore, Christians will be persecuted.
