Catholicissm is not allowed to be taught in school. Why should homosexuality be allowed to be taught in school?

That would be the* public* schools that was referred to. Catholicism is not allowed to be taught in public schools. Homosexuality is. Therefore the comparison between Catholics promoting their beliefs and gay promoting their beliefs is an unfair one.

I can lose my job over public anti-homosexual politics. Exactly how that’s defined, I’m not certain. I work in a public school system, and open disapproval of homosexuality is not permitted at work, nor when it would reflect upon my work environment.

Big fuzzy line.

I don’t worry about it away from work. But at work, I say nothing. While I have some dear friends who are homosexuals, I do not approve of their homosexual activities.

None of them, however, are Catholic. I also don’t approve of their being Wiccan or Agnostic, but that doesn’t prevent me from valuing them as persons whom I enjoy spending time with. They don’t approve of my Catholicism, either, but that doesn’t prevent them from spending time with me.

I don’t approve of drinking and driving. But that doesn’t mean I’m not friends with individuals convicted of so doing. (One gave up his license on his first DUI. He rides the bus or walks.)
 
So I guess the gay movement has brainwashed the education system? 😦

I trust in God, though. 🙂

Schools either have to confine themselves to reading, writing and arithmetic and empirical science, or they must open themselves to philosophy and metaphysics.

Evolution should not be taught as it is a philosophy. But the system is excluding other philosophies.

Hi pnewton,

Public schools teach about Catholicism. It would be extremely difficult to teach world history and world cultures without doing so. It would also be impossible to teach a lot of art and literature without talking about the beliefs of Catholics as well.

And schools may teach about homosexuality but they don’t “teach homosexuality.” Imagine what the homework would be like if they did? Big difference, huh?

Evolution is a philosophy? That is a new one for me. Evolution is a falsifiable scientific claim. In what way do you see it as a philosophy?

Art and literature when I was in school had nothing remotely Catholic. History might have a paragraph or two one day in history.

There is zero reason to teach kids about sexual deviancy.
 
Are we being forced? Yes. I just heard about Catholic Charities in Massachussettes. Even though there are some 18 other adoption agencies in the state, Catholic Charities was closed down because they would not adopt out children to homosexual couples.

9:00 am central time. EWTN Sunday, October 19, 2008. I believe it is a show called Faith and Culture.

Respect for our own conscience in persecuted. We are not allowed in any way to act on our own consciences if it is against homosexuality or abortion. If we call it sinful, we are persecuted…to the point of being put out of business.

With the homosexuality cause, before too long, they will be demanding to be able to get married in the Catholic Church. When they are refused, how long before our Roman Catholic Churches will be persecuted?

Anyone can realize that this is around the corner.

Sorry, I meant Catholicism is not allowed to be taught in public schools, so why should homosexuality…which is against Catholicism…to be taught in public schools?

You seem to be asking for a right to not just call homosexuality sinful but to actually discriminate against homosexuals? The tolerance that protects the homosexual minority is the exact same thing that prevents people from discriminating against Catholics.

If by “act on your own conscience” you mean speaking out for what you believe, then there is no problem in this country. Everyone is allowed to have their own idea of the good here. But if acting on your conscience involves discrimination, then you are not so free, and you should be thankful, because there is no other reason that a minority such as Catholicism is tolerated.

This is absolute true. If they taught Catholicism in the public school where Leela grew up, I would like to know where she grew up so that my kids could get educated about Catholicism for free.

Truth is, one will never see a picture of the Madonna and Child, or the Crucifixion of Our Lord, Jesus Christ in a public school history book. And I would love to be proven wrong. I invite it, as a matter of fact. But in proving it, the person would have to tell me what book, edition, and school district…and teacher uses the book. I hope someone can.

Catholicism is a religion. And it would be against the Constitution of the United States of America to force it to do anything it thought was sinful.

To call a sin a sin, and give no support to it, is not discrimination. To say that Catholicism is prejudiced because we call a sin a sin, and give no suppport to it, and fight against it is a direct discrimation and intolerance that you are leveling against religion. And so is shutting down a Catholic Charities adoption agency. You are proving that the homosexual agenda is in deed trying to FORCE us to accept it.

Any public adoption agency that refuses to adopt children out to Catholics would be discriminating. Catholics are citizens of the USA, and should have the same rights in the public square as any other citizen. The difference is public versus religious. Catholic Charities is a PRIVATE charity, and a religious*** charity. Therefore it should be free of any government interferrence. Anything that is against Catholicism should not be forced upon the religious charities.

Catholic Charities is not allowed to “act on your own conscience” in Massachussettes where it was shut down by the government for doing so. Catholic Charities was persecuted by the government which is supposed to protect its rights to be protected from government. Homosexuality does not have that same protection…as it is not a religious organization.***

They should not be allowed to teach it in school. And they are doing so. You would do well to go back to school and retake a government or Civics course to learn the difference.***

You are right we don’t need hateful rapist and molesters they are of the devil. I take issue to people that think Gay relationships are to be compared to the near gang rape of the angels that was later done to the virginal Daughter that was sacrificed to these evil men that tortured her because a GIRL WASN’T IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO POTECT FROM SUCH HORROR!!!
PROTECT ALL MEN, WOMEN,CHILDREN AND ANGELS ALIKE FROM THIS BEHAVIOR. Not from two loving people who just want the same legal rights as you have. No one is saying that any church be forced to do a religious ceremony if they find it unsatisfactory to their doctrine. But we are suppose to have seperation of church and state. Meaning legal right and religion don’t always go hand in hand. And you should have parental control over your child’s television with V Chip learn to use it. Do you let her watch Spongebob? Now ther is a show that teachs hate.
Keep the church out of the law and all will live happier.

Yet all who are in the Church and are citizens of the USA have a legal right to be heard as citizens. And we also have a moral obligation to fight against sinful behaviour being accepted as legal in the USA. We have the right to demand that they not teach what is sinful in the public schools…where our children are forced to go if they have no other recourses to education. The school has no right or obligation to teach about sex education at all!!! and if parents do not want to teach their children themselves, then community organizers should offer classes outside of what it is mandatory that children attend.

Years ago when civil unions were being discussed, the opponents of the idea used the “slippery slope” argument and pointed towards a future movement to allow gay marriage. Of course, the “slippery slope” argument was brushed off then…much like it is now.
