Are we better off today than back then?

I think the ideal state of humanity is to have a somewhat childlike demeanor with adult mental faculties (or genius level mental faculties). Childhood has a certain innocence to it.

I do not think technology has significantly improved after 2002 as far as I am concerned. I think I was better off in 2002. Regarding a longer time frame, I think we are better off when compared to 50 years from now.

Can you clarify? Back when? 1950? 1348? 600 BC?
That question popped into my mind. Then I voted it was better back then. It seems the world as progressively gotten worse as time as progressed, at least during the 50+ years that I’ve been on it. 🤷

I guess that depends on how you look at it. Some things are worse now. Some things are better. I’ll bet people of any era could have said the same.

Anyone want to offer speculation on whether the scenarios in The Singularity is Near or Limits to Growth will happen?
I was very interested and wikipedia’d (and made up a new verb). Can I just go see Jesus when I’m done down on this planet? 😃 NO desire to live forever, at least down here.

Times are always about the same amount of difficulty. It’s just different, and I think that’s what determines how we see “then and now.”
