Are we in the Last Days?

I think people throughout history thought it was the last days. This isn’t new just to us in 2015.
He’s going to come life a thief in the night.
I agree - think what people thought in the days of WW2!!! That had to have people scared…on the other hand, I do see more things happening that could point to end times especially with the persecution of Christians around the world (which has been happening for awhile as well) but with the advent of the various media (TV, radio, easily printed books and Bibles) the word of God is getting out to areas never thought of before.

He IS going to come like a thief in the night and that requires us to get the Gospel of Jesus out to everyone.

I’m looking forward to his soon return - Maranatha, Lord Jesus!

In Him,

Rita

I believe we are living in the last days before Jesus returns. My pastor believes we are heading into a persecution phase. Has any one else been thinking this? Is your pastor preaching anything like this?:hmmm:
Every generation has believed they were in the “last days”.

I’m sure most of your know that 2 Thessalonians (especially chapter 2) was written expressly for the purpose of explaining to the Thessalonians that Jesus’ return was not imminent; they had misunderstood the first letter Paul wrote to them. (1 Thessalonians).

It’s also about persecution of the early christians. It would make interesting reading. Am sending along a brief explanation of the book of 2 Thessalonians. Check it out: Some people had stopped going to work!

God bless you
Fran

Paul and his friends received news from Thessalonica after that church had received the first letter. This news showed that the Thessalonians still needed someone to teach them about some subjects. They had not understood some of what was in the first letter. So, the purpose of the second letter was to make things clear to them.
1 They must expect *persecution because they trust in the *Lord Jesus. But God has a purpose in allowing them to suffer and he will reward them (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10). Paul and his friends write to give them strength and to encourage them.
2 The Thessalonians seem to have some strange ideas about the return of Christ. Some said that the *Lord had already come. But this is not right (2 Thessalonians 2:1-2). Some thought that the *Lord would come at any moment. The return of the *Lord will be sudden. But, there are things that must happen before he comes (2 Thessalonians 2:3‑12).
3 Some of the Thessalonian Christians were lazy. They had given up their work. It could be that they expected the *Lord to come very soon. They depended on their friends to keep them and feed them. Paul had mentioned this subject in the first letter (1 Thessalonians 5:14). Now he tells them what they should do to those who refuse to work (2 Thessalonians 3:6-13).

No I don’t think so. There are far too many unresolved conflicts in the world for the plug to be pulled.

I believe God will allow the struggles of man to act themselves out, until there is nothing other than the Catholic Church versus obstinate rebellion, and then the end will come. This will likely take at least another millennium or two. You have the religions of the East. Islam. Protestantism. Schismatics. Hinduism. New Age Religion. These all need sorted out and converted. The Church still has a lot of work to do before the narrative of human history is brought to a closure.
Its precisely because there are so many unresolved conflicts in the world happening at the same time, that I would expect Jesus to come. I can imagine he would be fed up and throwing up his hands saying enough is enough.

Except throughout history the whole world has never been in the condition it is in right now. Right now the world is being attacked spiritually, philosophically, physically, legally. Not just one or two countries, but the entire world.

And in these days, news is basically instantaneous. I’m sure not EVERYTHING that happened went into history books, just the major stuff. In 300 years, a lot of stuff that is happening right now, won’t be in history books, unless it is the first stages of something else. Stuff is always happening somewhere, all the time.
Believe what you want. I’m not going to start freaking out if the moon is a reddish hue or if there is huge natural disaster somewhere. If you really want to freak yourself out, go here:

Oh, they think the Pope is the anti-Christ and that Jesuits started false teaching.

I’m sticking with The Church, you have the ability to choose for yourself.

We are in the Last Days, and have been so for the last 1,985 years or so. Acts 2:14-17
14 But Peter,[a] standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day; 16 but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘**And in the last days **it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
and Hebrews 1:1-2
1 In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; 2 but** in these last days** he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Now, whether or not Christ comes tomorrow or in 10,000 years, we must be ready for Him when He comes. After all, as stated above, 100 generations so far have gone to meet Him before His glorious appearing. Nevertheless. please, come soon! Maranatha.

Indeed!!

Friends, why do you all think Paul referred to Jesus’ FIRST coming as the Last Days??

.

😃

I have a theory that the older we are, the more susceptible we are to “the end is near”.
I’d definitely second that. Back when my hours were different and my commute was longer I’d occassionally listen to Pastor Chuck Smith, the founder and head of Calvary Chapel. He and his radio partner had a show very similar to Catholic Answers Live where they would take call-in questions. As Chuck got older and he suffered some major health scares, he started going off a lot about how we were in the End Times.

I see the “end times” as a call to discipleship. Since it is God’s desire that all may be saved, it’s imperative to reach others with the Gospel, the news of Jesus’ love and saving work. Some day, the last child that can be saved will be born, the last Christian added to the church militant, and then He will come.
