I heard a “message” in passing today. The speaker was claiming that we are little christs. This somehow does not sound right to me. Are we little christs?

Daniel, the speaker probably means, that in following Christ, we become like Him in a sense…we are charged to live the commandments of love, as Jesus did, and to evangelise others by our example as Christians. As His sign and instruments… in that sense.

imitators yes
1 Thess 1:6 “**You also became imitators **of us and of the Lord…” (NASB)

and transformed into His image
2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image…” (NASB)

but ‘little Christs’ or ‘minor Messiahs’…hmm

Christ (Messiah) is the Anointed One. We have been anointed at baptism and confirmation. Thus we are Little Christs.

Well said. We are, of course, little Theotokoses (God-bearers) as well since we take Him into us in Holy Communion. :getholy:

Yeah…it’s sort of demeaning. No…we’re disciples of Christ. This is serious business and shouldn’t be addressed via silly expressions. It was probably innocently made, however.🤷

The Church is Christ - His mystical body that remained when His physical body returned to the Father.

The Church is also its membership, its faithful.

Therefore…
