Which of these are you askingBy this i mean are we living in a time where the search for God, objective meaning/purpose and objective moral value, simply doesnāt matter any-more, or at least it does not concern us as much materialist and social/political goals?
We are moving in to a time where technology and science takes care of much of our ills. Many of the things that may have motivated or inspired people to seek spiritual development has been replaced by entertainment, reality tv, films, games, and other forms of escapism etcā¦
Or, my friend, it might be the opposite: His coming might be sooner than we think.![]()

gimmi the love!!!
Letās have a witness from the AMEN or OH ME! corner somebody!!!:dancing:gimmi the love!!!
It sure seemed like the people in Eastern Europe during John Paulās Pontificate were looking for God judging from the crowds JPII would draw whenever he went to Eastern Europe before Communism went belly-up!May he is saying that people have gone astray and are looking for God.
More recently the new Pope didnāt seem to get much love in the UKIt sure seemed like the people in Eastern Europe during John Paulās Pontificate were looking for God judging from the crowds JPII would draw whenever he went to Eastern Europe before Communism went belly-up!![]()
I would feel the opposite of what you say here. If I was a devout Catholic, I would be greatly saddened and pained at heart that anybody would fall into the clutches of disbelief preferring a finite meaningless existence.Anymore though the pope will have critics wherever he travels. I think it is due to the fact that we are in a post christian era. However, maybe in a strange way it is better. The true believers keep the faith while those who could care less simply fall for secularism. In a way itās better than the middle ages where everyone in Europe was Christian, but might not have been that devout. So in a strange way a post christian society might be better in some ways. Though I do think we should come back to a christian society
You are right about the brothers and sisters part, and it does sadden me that so many are leaving the church and donāt know God, but in a sense I would rather have a tiny RCC where itās members are all faithful than one with a billion members with the majority being heterodox. We should pray though that those who are out of line will come to correct thinking in the church and that more people do return.I would feel the opposite of what you say here. If I was a devout Catholic, I would be greatly saddened and pained at heart that anybody would fall into the clutches of disbelief preferring a finite meaningless existence.
We are all brothers and sisters, and if we truly care surely it will be a sad day if we lose any of them to ignorance. That anybody would not know the eternal glory and love of their Creator is a sad thing indeed.
Isnāt that what Christianity is all about? Loving thy neighbour?
Maybe the age of the true Christian saint is Gone.
PoseidonI think Godās decline is motivated by a combination of increasing affluence and increasing knowledge of the universe. Basically, the things God is needed for - explaining the universe and comforting people - are declining, and Godās going with them.

People are looking for Jesus Christ on this:We are living in a neo-spiritual paganistic era of ghost hunters; paranormal investigators; haunted this and thats.
There are self-styled pseudo-exorcists and mediums and psychics under the veneer of āscientific approachā. UFO hunters; Ancient Aliens and it just goes on and on.
Anything but the sound doctrine of Jesus Christ-the One, True Lord and God of all.

Simply, as Jesus put it, they did not find the door (āI am the Doorā), yet. There are self-styled pseudo-exorcists and mediums and psychics under the veneer of āscientific approachā. UFO hunters; Ancient Aliens and it just goes on and on.
Immoral things on people today? Just look at the history of convents in classic and medieval churchā¦I do think that religious ferver has gone down. Especially with younger people. There seems to be so much immoral things happening out there. But of course this is just my opinion and it isnāt really based on statistics or something. I have heard, though, that there is actually more good than bad out there.
I kind of think of it as a white sheet and the black spots on it (evil and sin) really pop out and that is what your attention is on while we donāt notice the great white space around it.
I do take a little issue with the idea that religious fervor is down among young people. While we certainly are in an era when young people are worse than ever, I think there are strong groups of young people who are trying to live the christian life (and in my case the Catholic Life). I might be biased though since iām only 23I do think that religious ferver has gone down. Especially with younger people. There seems to be so much immoral things happening out there. But isnāt it consistent with Catholic eschatology, that there will be a great chastisement of the Catholic Faith? If Catholic prophesy (fatima, and similar revelations) is anything to go by, we are moving into an age of great corruption and persecution of the Christian faith on a grand scale.I do take a little issue with the idea that religious fervor is down among young people.
