Are we not required to kneel until the Eucharist is returned to the tabernacle?

When our new priest has finished distributing communion, he signals the entire congregation to sit… even if the other EM’s are not yet finished. I was taught to always remain kneeling until the Body of Christ is sealed in the tabernacle. Because of this, my wife and I continue to kneel… which is of course, our own choice. Isn’t sitting early against church doctrine?

Dear On,

There was a time when the faithful were required to kneel until the tabernacle door was closed. But today in many places the tabernacle is in another chapel. So at this time the faithful may either sit or kneel. In some places the local bishop is having them stand until all have received. Eventually, some semblance of order will return. We have to be patient.
