Are we required to attend Mass on Ash Wednesday?

Is Ash Wednesday a Day of Obligation, in which we are required to attend Mass?
 
Dear R,

The Church does not oblige us to attend Mass on Ash Wednesday, but it does encourage us to do so. It’s a most apppropriate thing to do–considering all He endured for us.
