Sign of Cross is affirmation of the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
You are praying or receiving a blessing in God’s Name. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Why is this an issue ? You are baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Even the Sign of the Cross is in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

It is a beautiful sign and a confessoin of one belonging to the Holy Catholic Church, do it with honor.
However, I don’t think you’ll be sent to the deep south after death just because you forgot to on accident.

coolCatholicGuy, I hope you were able to watch the Daily Mass this morning on EWTN.
Father Dominic’s sermon dealt in large part with the use of the Sign of the Cross. He emphasized that it is the primary Sacramental of the Catholic Church, also being an indulgenced Sacramental. It is the sign of our faith.
Early Christian’s used it as a form of identification and we should not be ashamed and/or embarrased to do the same in this day and age.
I wish you would try to view the re-broadcast of the Daily Mass on EWTN today at Noon, or perhaps at Midnight. On Sunday it is not re-broadcast at 7:00 p.m.
Perhaps it is the “cool” description that is keeping you from making use of this most important Sacramental.
