Are we to pray the Hail Mary (or similar prayers) each time we pray to Mary?

Say you want to say a brief prayer to Mary for someone else’s health. Are we generally expected to pray a Hail Mary or similar prayer before doing so (obviously it doesn’t hurt), or can we simply ask Mary to pray for said person?

No to the first part.

Yes to the second.

You are free…

(short prayers are a topic I have written here before on - very ancient practice in the Church…)

Just ask Jesus and Mary to help this person then say… 1 Our father 1 Hail Mary, and 1 Glory be .

Let yourself loose friend:)
Just talk to her, she’s your mother and while formality is fine sometimes it doesn’t necessarily serve a purpose.
