Because someone who is asleep cannot will or consent to an action, night emissions are not sinful. However, since dreams can sometimes be a reflection of what the person has been doing or thinking before falling to sleep, someone for whom night emissions are a continuing problem may want to examine what he has been doing or thinking before he fell asleep. If, for example, he has been reading or watching material that is impure, those particular actions (not the emissions) might need to be assessed and confessed if necessary.
