Lumen Gentium states:
In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind.
and

Nostra Aetate states:
The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God.

You will find many people who will say that Allah and the Christian and Jewish God aren’t the same.
To me Allah is just an Arabic word for God (Actually its God in Arabic). And yes, Muslims pray to the same God that we do mainly because no other god exists. The problem is that Muslims have the wrong understanding of God. I don’t think that God is going to ignore the prayers (prayers with good intentions) of his creation just because they have the wrong image of him.

… Muslims have the wrong understanding of God.
all major holy books teach that God is only one & don’t take deity besides God . Muslims follow this command & worship one God only .
I don’t think that God is going to ignore the prayers .
God warned in Bible & other holy book that He is very jealous & will punish those who take deity besides Him.

Sure Muslims believe in one God. But they believe he asked Abraham to sacrifice Ismael, they believe that he sent Muhammad, they believe that he gave the Quran, they believe that he secretly rescued Jesus from the cross etc.

Douay-Rheims Bible:

Psalm 96:5
For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.”

1 Chronicles 16:26
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

“Are Yahweh and Allah one?”

I say no. Allah is an invention of Islam, and as such, is a wildly *inaccurate *characterization of God. ‘Allah’ is the god of war, oppression, cruelty. Allah is the enemy of Yahweh.

How can Allah be the enemy of Yahweh when it does not exist. Your arguament is polyteistical.

… he asked Abraham to sacrifice Ismael, .
Ismail (p) was the Firstborn son of Prophet Abraham (p). Do u agree ?

If anyone worships God other than how He has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, such a person is worshipping a deity he has made up, which is an idol, even if it’s not externalized in physical form.

(Mary ) Verily, God has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the Alameen… (of her lifetime)…

**And just how could the real Virgin Mary be purified of sin, when she had none? HMMMMMM??? Is Mahometanism or Mahomet (ptuy) so impious as to accuse her of polytheism and infidelity?

Isa akbar!

Isa akbar!

ISA AKBAR!

I bear witness there is NO GOD but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and Jesus is God Incarnate risen from the dead.**

So do Christians!!! 🙂

If there is one thing we call “the moon” and 2 people describing it, one of them describing the crescent, does it mean it is not the same moon? no, it is the same moon because there is only one anyway, yet what the person describing is not the full moon or at least how he sees/thinks the moon is when it is not, but it is still the same one moon.

I think they are…Muslims accept the first 5 books of the old testment from what I understand

Their approach to God is different than ours, but as Fr Groeschel says it isn’t up to us to decide how God reveals Himself to others

Not accurate. Muslim believe in the ‘laws given to Moses’. But Muslims believe that the Torah used by the Jews and Christians are corrupted.

Yes and no.

the intention of Muslims is to worship the same God as the Jews, but their understanding of that God is flawed.

If, in fact, Allah was 100% the same, why is the name he gave to Moses (“I AM”), which he told Moses would be His name for all time and all Peoples not listed at all in the Qur’an? Why is it not one of the 99 names?

Thank you I didn’t know that…but I still believe what Fr Groeschel has said

And I do not disagree with him either. I would point out that Muslims do not accept everything in the Torah as we know it. Nor do they accept the teachings of Jesus as we know them.

If God wishes to reveal himself in different ways to others, so be it. I find it hard to believe that he would reveal himself to another group and tell them that assigning partners to himself (i.e. being Trinitarian) will put you into hell for ever.

Ishmael was Abraham’s eldest son.
any differences between the eldest & Firstborn son ?

.
If you are going to debate on which son was sacrificed, begin another thread…
In your holy book , God asked to sacrifice his 'only ’ son. So , u decide who could be that son ?

Apply your God gifted logic & intelligence & u will get the ans. No need to open a thread …ans is easy 🙂

According to the Bible, Abraham had already cast Ishmael out and basically disowned him. The covenant between God and Abraham was to be counted through Isaac, not Ishmael.
