Are yoga poses opposed to Catholicism?

A few years ago I read that yoga positions in themselves (not the meditative part, but the positions) are salutations to Hindu gods, and that the positions are designed to align the body so that the soul’s chakras will be more receptive to external energies. Now I don’t know if that is true or not, but the benefit from the gentle stretching exercise of yoga seems benificial, and I really can’t find any other form of exercise that is as gentle and focused on stretching as yoga. I am reminded of how Christians are allowed to eat meat offered to idols, and I’m curious if the yoga poses fall into the same category. Can I practice the physical exercise of yoga, even with the chakra factor, if I keep in mind that I only receive/salute to God?
