I’m a full-fledged bookworm. I’m usually reading at least two books at once. I’ve started to read so many books that I don’t know when I’ll have time to read the book about babies that Mom gave me before I birth Baby.

Here are my favorite genres:
historical fiction (Nazi Holocaust, other wars)
mystery
non-fiction (there is so much to learn!), especially when it’s Catholic

I’ve loved reading since I was a child…I used to read several a week but now it takes me a lot longer to finish one…I hope its not cause I’m getting older

I would say that reading is my favorite hobby. I hate shopping for clothes, but I could peruse the book shelves for hours in a book store!!!

Currently, favorite reading materials include Jeff Cavins, Patrick Madrid, Scripture, and Classic literature that I missed out on as a kid (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Swiss Family Robinson, Anne of Green Gables to name a few that I’ve read this year:) )

Sweet! I used to read Anne of Green Gables after I had a tooth pulled. I would get up when I had to change the gauze. That was so fun! I really hope that preborn Baby is a bookworm.

When I was a little kid there were no books left for me to read in school, I had read the whole library, back then they didn’t bother with you as much as they do now. They didn’t bring extra books in for me to read.

I read everyday and love to read.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Wow! You sound like Matilda in the movie with the same title. I always identified with Matilda because I felt like her sometimes. It would be so fun to read the whole library and skip to adult books when you’re done with the children’s books!

I would read at least one daily, but most of my reading is on the internet nowadays.

CAF or book? CAF or book? LOL I have a pile of books I want to read but I’ve been reading less lately as I spend more time on CAF. Let’s hope someone comes up with great ideas for a 12-step program for CAF addicts. Let’s pray for self-discipline and strength!

I was a very poor student in high school and read as little as possible. In my early 20’s, it was as if someone had unclogged the drain. Books became “my best friends.” I tend to go through phases that include:
classical literature
mysteries
biographies/autobiographies
history
theology/biblical study
psychology/self-help
dogs, birds, fly-fishing, antiques, home construction
Normally, I have a stack of 30-40 books to-be-read.
Books. Books. Books. So little time. :rotfl:

Wow. I used to read self-help, too. Variety in genres is great when you’re a bookworm!
I’ve found that I can put the book down when I get too tired to read. Then I just have to gather the energy to put the bookmark in the book and move it so I won’t sleep on it, and turn off the reading light.

Have you read any James Herriot books? I love his stories about his vet practice 🙂

No but Grandma probably has. She loves animals! She used to own horses and now she has a cat and a dog. Thanks for the recommendation. Actually, she probably gave me one of his books and it’s at my parents’ house.

Better read it soon, because when he/she is born, you won’t have time. Although you can try to read when you nurse the baby.

:clapping: Yes, “variety in genres is great”! There was a period when I read Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot Mysteries. I’d either be reading them or watching them on PBS. :bounce: The only bad book is the one un-read. 😃

I have The Brothers Karamazov. Has anybody read it? Would you recommend it?

I’m also a big fan of Francine Rivers. She’s a Protestant author who writes great fiction. I’d recommend The Atonement Child to anyone. It’s about a young devout Christian woman(around 18 or 19)who becomes pregnant after a rape. She is thrown into turmoil(naturally) over the pregnancy and discovers the family secret about abortion. Any more than that would give it away.

Yes, I’ve read and would recommend this one.
Here, however, I must confess. I say that “books are my best friends.” Hypocrite! :bigyikes:

Several years ago, I sold about a 1,000 of them. I’ve been dis-heartened every since. Works by Dostoevsky, James, Dickens, and on and on. My friends! I sold them! :banghead:
Hopefully, I’ll never make that mistake again, until it it time to pass along my library. 🙂

I read four to five books a week normally. I had eye surgery in January, however, with complications, and have only been able to read one book since then, which is driving me absolutely mad 😃

Yay, the British queen of mystery! I have a compilation of two or three of her books at my parents’. I miss it.

Gracie, could you go to a library (or have someone drive you to a library) and check out some books on tape or CD? I feel for you.

Any Jane Austen fans here?

my Mother my Confidence,
Corinne

I actually panic when my “stash” of books gets low. We are lucky to have a good Half Price Boostore nearby, and I go there often. Also…A local flea market has a great bookstore…The owner has been there over fifteen-sixteen years, and has a great selection.

Anne Perry, Patricia Cornwell, and Elizabeth George are several others I’ve enjoyed. :dancing:
Yes, the audio might be a help for Gracie. I don’t know if there’s anything available over the net; that is, to download or how practical this would be. Main thing, take care of your eyes, Gracie. :yup:
