This is rather personal to me because I’m considering converting. I became Protestant few years ago when I started going to church with my husband(who is Protestant). After couple of years, I realized that I wasn’t happy with their teachings and started to look elsewhere. First started out with EO church which led me to Roman Catholic church. I still go to my husband church sometime because he is very unhappy if I don’t. I’m in a rather lonely place at the moment because the friends I have are all Protestant and anytime word Catholic is mentioned it always leads to arguments, even though I don;t wish it but they tend to pester me.
My husband is very anti-catholic and while is not happy with me attending liturgy at EO, going to RC Mass is pretty much the same as if I was going to Satanist meeting. I was wondering if anyone else was/were in my situation and how did you handle it? I find it impossible to talk to him reasonably about RC teachings as he doesn’t want to hear it. Same for my friends as I have noone with whom to talk to about these things:(

oops, I thought this was an old thread. I looked at your date of membership and confused it with the date of your post. Sorry, I am still not used to posting on this site.

Bev,
While I can’t really give you any advice on the subject, know that you are in my prayers.

Although I am not in the same situation as you, I find myself in a similar situation. Growing up my parents had two different beliefs therefore I never went to church as a child. The bible was never talked about in our household, it was even uncomfortable to ask questions about. So I am now in a place in my life where I am ready to accept religion in my life. My husband however was catholic growing up, he later converted to mormonism. He has been pressuring me to attend church with him, I feel that I have done enough research to know that I do not believe in their beliefs. The more research I do the more I realize that catholic beliefs are the same as I believe. I was visiting a friend tonight that helped me understand a little more about the catholic belief. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in the way that you feel and you should follow what you believe.
