Why do you associate person with dog, and owner with cat?

Why not ‘are you a dog person or a cat person?’ or ‘a dog owner or a cat owner’?

Just curious.

I’ve been lucky to share my life with both dogs and cats. . .not to mention several rabbits, a couple of guinea pigs, some beta fish. . .

Have had Irish Setter show dogs, and the hubs has had several Border Collies on his farm in Ireland, and bot of us have had a few cats. Currently have 2 indoor family cats, and one that lives on the deck. We had another, but a coyote got her recently. 😥

I love both. I own cats because they suit my environment - I don’t have a big enough yard and I refuse to keep a dog in the house 24/7. I like big dogs best. If I could keep a dog or two that would bring me a lot of joy. I feel a lack there. But I cannot live without cats. It would be too dry, uncivilized, paltry, pedestrian. And that is not what life is about.

We have a beagle and a ragdoll - although I care about our dog, I won’t want to get another. If it was finacially and lifestyle prudent, I’d get another ragdoll kitten today.

I mean, look at him!

We acquired an unexpected cat in mid-2016, when she started spending the night on top of a stack of old packing cases on our back porch. At first she would disappear during the daytime, to keep out of range of the dogs, who all sleep indoors. By now she has gained a certain degree of acceptance among the dogs. However, not all of them have been equally welcoming, and we still don’t let her come indoors, for her own safety.

I have heard ragdoll cats are very affectionate that will follow you around like a puppy. Is this true?
You be the judge 😉

(They are both sitting on me.)

He is the most affectionate cat I’ve ever experienced. He’s also amazingly tolerant of the children (which is why we went with a bred animal at all). He talks quite a bit but no worse and much quieter than a dog who barks to go out and be fed.

That is such a beautiful, lovely, and adorable photo, of both your little girl and your kitty! ❤️

That is one of those priceless photo opportunities, that you’ll always be able to cherish! 😀

I am a cat person and I have cats who are similar to small persons.

I would have a dog, but I cannot handle the responsibility of dog care right now, especially for my preferred dog type which would be a pug. Pugs need a lot of attention. I content myself with belonging to online pug groups and enjoying looking at other peoples’ pugs.

I also like lop rabbits and guinea pigs, and one day would like to have a chinchilla.

I grew up where we always had a cat in our home.

I had noticed about 14 years ago that I was having more allergy symptoms when being around dogs, and I asked the Allergy doctor about it, that I was going to at the time.

He had told me that I was allergic to both cats and dogs, but with the cat allergy, I had built up a natural immunity to them, since I had always been around them.

I do love dogs just as much, and my Dad had dogs so when we would visit my Dad and his wife, I would always play with their dogs.

We currently just have our one old girl kitty who will be going into her 20th year starting tomorrow, in January. 🙂

As kitties age and develop health problems, it can be like elderly care-giving, if anyone has done any of that.

A senior pet requires a lot more care and observation, to make sure that they are doing alright, just like a human being does. 🙂
