Are you covering your head ? (Directed to the women)

:o I won’t because there’s no one in my parish that does and although I’m not usually given to peer pressure, IT would stick out like a sore thumb. If they were handing them out at the entrance, that’s different! However, my parish is just a little on the side of Protestant as we don’t have a Tabernacle in front and no one genuflects (and on and on).So I would if there were others!
I’m just glad to know that God loves me still - mantila or or none!

I was told when I was in C.C.D that women need not do that anymore. That was in the 70’s. I am surprised to hear that anyone still does.

I just recently decided to start covering my head in Church, even though the act is no longer an obligation. For me it seems the right thing to do, it’s seems so reverent.

I can’t even get my wife to but the bag on at home, let alone at church.

:bigyikes:

That wasn’t very nice. :nope:

I’m a guy and would LOVE if I could wear my hat in church…hate trying to comb my hair so early in the morning. 😉

I do it because I’m called to do it. Not to make a fashion statement.

I do because I feel called to do so, I feel others should do it as well because it is a sign of respect for our Lord.

Jesus was accustomed to having women cover their heads in his presence and in public in general in his time. Well, since he is STILL THERE and is PRESENT, body, blood, soul and divinity at each and every mass, how could we women who truely believe in the transubstantiation NOT be covered?

It has nothing to do with fashion, with ourselves, with anything other than respecting Jesus Christ.

Nope. It wasn’t. :tsktsk:

My mother is a traditionalist and so she has her mantillas that we all wear to Mass… depending on the day, we will even have our heads covered outside

Believe it or not but some people still follow the teachings of Sacred Scripture. Picking & choosing is what protestants do.

I once had a very heated discussion in CCD when I was a teen (& on the verge of leaving the church) over the martyrdom of St. Peter. My ill-informed “teacher” told me that St. Peter was not crucified upside down & I insisted that he was. She almost kicked my out of class.

I wear a hat or a chapel cap when I attend an N.O. Mass. When I go to a Tridentine Mass I wear a mantilla. I don’t cover my head at other times unless I’m outside and its cold or I’m hiking in the bright sun.

I go to the TLM and I wear a veil but I love hats so I wear them alot in or out of Church.

I cover my head with a nice warm hat when I’m out snowblowing. As for church… well… I once got the urge to start wearing a mantilla but couldn’t find one anywhere. Eventually, the urge passed.

If the urge to wear a mantilla should hit you again you can find them at halo-works.com or modestyveils.com.

I have seen this statement on 2 other “veil” threads. Each time I ask, where canon law or other edict negated it.
NO ANSWER YET !.
Does someone have the source document location ?

True. But that’s NOT the point, is it. The point is HOW do YOU love HIM in thought, word and DEED?
ps I’ve always had a special admiration for the courage of those who follow, and never lead. Especially, when it comes to their Faith.

**I like to wear a veil, but usualy I am wearing a beret when I am just going out side, and I’m wearing a veil when I am going to the Church.
I don’t care what people say about me on the street; Jesus want us to cover our heads and I am doing it, because I see it as a sign of respact to him.

Something I heard recently in regard to this topic is that women are required to cover their heads in the presence of the pope. If we are required to cover our heads in the presence of the Holy Father, why aren’t we required to do so in the presence of Our Lord at Mass? I personally don’t cover my head in church, at least not at this time, but I admire those who do and am leaning toward thinking that we should, especially since learning that it is required in the presence of the pope. Just my thoughts. :o

God bless, Jen

Well said and something I’ve often wondered about too.
