I recently read St. Faustina’s diary also. It came up as one of the recommended titles on my Amazon.com welcome page. I got drawn into the preview of it and felt called to read it.
Although I learned the lessons God intended for me, I think, St. Faustina was not my cup of tea. When I finished the Diary, I turned to the Little Flower for something crisp and refreshing!

Thanks for the idea. I was at our local Catholic Bookstore today to purchase a confirmation gift, and bought The Story of a Soul. There was plenty to chose from.

Did a little catchup tonight on my full reading list.
Finished off 2 books of which neither could be considered spiritual readings.
I will be starting on “Spiritual Life in the Modern World” by Fr. Hardon and I am reading “St. Faustina’s Diary” a little at a time.

People differ drastic in their spirituality and so what turns on one person doesn’t appeal to another, and vice versa. If you enjoy history, you might like a good saint’s life.
How do y’all do it? I can read Catholic History or works on Apologetics all day long (in fact, I often do!), but the few pieces of ‘Spiritual’ reading that I’ve picked up have bored me to tears. I was completely uninterested…couldn’t get past the first couple of pages…

I voted that I could read more, I sometimes don’t get to all the reading I wanted to do. Or I fall asleep before I finish. I need to start earlier in the eveing.

:yup: I told a good friend the other day that I sometimes fall asleep praying the rosary, something I’m trying to do everynight and she said “thats ok, the angels will finish it for you” they are working hard for me

I hear ya. Mine works overtime, I think. I now tell myself that I will only say one decade of the rosary. I can usually get through that without dozing off. I rarely make it through the whole thing. That’s what I have. She mentioned a lot of Jesus’ mercy, obedience, praying for the dying, the holy souls in Purgatory, patience, for peace, etc …Especially, her prayers, pray along her prayer while you read.

my son got “The Diary” for me at a Catholic Men’s conference yesterday…I am having difficulty putting it down… I’m lovin’ it!

Has anyone read Fr. Bedict Groeschel’s book, “The Virtue Driven Life” ?
I’m reading it now and find it a great read…lots of wisdom and direction in it…

That is on “next to buy list” I have “Praying in the Presence of Our Lord”. I was just a little disappointed with it. I was expecting more “meat and potatoes”. But it is just the right size to stick in my purse for Adoration.
Am currently reading “Lamb’s Supper”, “Rome Sweet Home” and “Diary of St. Faustina”. Just a little at a time in each of them. (Revert here).
When you are finished with “Virtue Driven Life”, would you tell us what you think of it?

I haven’t read, “Praying in the Presence of Our Lord” yet …have read all of the others though… and am reading “The Diary of St. Faustina” now… “The Virtue Driven Life” is so good and yes, I will let you know when I’ve finished…

I have finished “the Virtue Drive Life” and will read it again…very good read… “The Diary” on the other hand is very good but I find I have to be in the right disposition to read it…still only a little more than a third of the way through…
I am almost finished “Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace” by Scott Hahn… It’s about his spiritual journey in Opus Dei… Great read…

I just LOVE the way the Lord *nudges *us.He is more than nudging me…I literally got hit on the head w/ the book I’m reading right now… My big screen TV was broken for 2 weeks so I had to watch my EWTN in the bedroom and I reached above on my bookcase headboard for a Rosary and this book Saints In The World fell on my head!
I opened it and realized that it was one that had been assigned to me over a year ago by my SD and I thought I lost it!
And then again, maybe we should give some credit to our guardian angel.:yup:- Status
