We are… are you unable to go because of work? are you able to ask for time off to go? Iam going even if Frank has to meet me at the church as he gets off work at 6pm, and that is when Mass starts. Iam hoping Frank’s boss will let him get off at the regular time of 4:30, so we’ll see. Its a day of obligation, so if you can go, please do! It will be the first time for me as a Catholic that I have ever gone to Mass for All Souls Day!

God willing I will and my family will. Your post reminds me of how I felt the first time. SO excited!
I will pray you both get to be there and he can see your face filled with joy in doing something the first time.
But, no matter how many you go to, in some way or another - it will always be different, so it will always be new.🙂

indeed 👍

Oh yes yes yes! I never miss it!:gopray2:

I am doing the Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We need to do all we can to help them. One day we will be souls and hopefully there will those who will pray for us.

😃

Pax vobiscum!

Oh, yes, I’m certainly going to Mass on All Souls Day. In fact, I will be going to a Sung High Requiem Mass according to the old Dominican Rite. That means that the choir will be singing Dies Irae. Can’t wait!

In Christ,
Rand

I attend Mass as frequently as I can. Generally at my hospital they have a Mass. Then if I get done in time, I go at my parish.

All Souls Day is not a holy day of obligation the US. All Saints Day is, the day before, November 1.

Nonetheless, I usually go. If one cannot, it’s a tradition to pray for the poor souls, or those souls of one’s family of whom one is not sure, by going to church and making a visit, sayin the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and prayer for All Souls.
Thanks for the reminder- I should have noted that. I was caught up in her happiness and let go of the details.😦

I should be able to make it, although as an RCIA Candidate I suppose I am under no obligation to do so? But it seems to be a good chance to get in some extra practice. My local Church (named after the Saint in your signature) 🙂 has noon masses on Holy Days Of Obligation.

(Which is 1 November, which is what you probably intended.)

So I can get up at 10 AM as usual on workdays, experience the Mass as an RCIA Candidate, then head off to work.at 2PM, also as usual.👍

Three of us at work go to noon masses together on Holy Days. My boss is very understanding. We just call it our lunch break.

well iam not in the USA. my fact sheet states ours is november 1st as all saints day andit says it is a holy day of obligation. i guessmy title should’ve read all saints day not all souls day. here in canada, all saints day is a holy day of obligation.

For those that work on All Saints day, does your Church offer a Vigil Mass on 31 October? A morning and evening Mass on 1 November, We have four Masses to chose from so it is hard to say that I had to work unless you are one of the few that work 24/7. BTW, we also have two masses for all Souls Day. God Bless.

PS: For those that voted yes are you going to All Saints or All Souls day?

I have to work - but I so wish I could go. I would see something like this where I go to Mass - and hear the haunting chants that remind me of what is to come and to stay close to God always.

I will be going to All Saints Day and All Souls Day. 🙂

That is an absolutely gorgeous Funeral Mass - what church is that in?

All Saints and All Souls aren’t Holy Days of Obligation here in the merry but lazy (faithwise) land of Oz, so there aren’t any extra Masses laid on unfortunately.

But certainly I will attend Mass on both days unless something really extraordinarily urgent comes up - as I do the majority of days anyways.

They would not like seeing this post.

Guess they better shape up in NSW.

Oh virtually my whole family (with the exception of my parents) is included in that, and they know my opinion 😉 😛

Allow me to elucidate. I went right through school here with feasts such as the Ascension and All Souls BEING Holy Days of Obligation. Going to a Catholic school we were even allowed to arrive late on these days in order to attend morning Mass.

All bar Christmas and Assumption have since been demoted. Most have been moved to the nearest Sunday but All Saints/All Souls aren’t even honoured that much.

So I completely stand by my statement, we’ve grown lazy.
