Are you pro-gun, or anti-gun?

Let’s get us a poll and some data as to whether or not CAF members are pro-gun. I will not define “pro-gun” or “anti-gun” in my survey.

That’s about it. And, since the poll is anonymous, unless you want to specifically state in your posts, I think I’ll attach gun ownership in there as well.
 
I won’t poll as in Australia it is illegal to own a gun unless you are police or have a permit because you are an armed guard. Works well. If you get caught with a gun we know you are a criminal, and you get locked up. Of course criminals do use guns but mainly amongst themselves, so if someone is shot you can be pretty certain they have been mixing with the wrong types.
If war ever comes we know where we can get a lot of them very quickly.

Same here in the UK
 
I’m pro gun though I don’t own a gun yet. I’d love to get a 12 gauge shotgun to go skeet shooting.
 
I’m not “pro-gun” per se; I’m pro-2nd Amendment. Under which carrying a gun - amongst other arms - was deemed a protected right.
 
I am anti-gun and not a gun owner.

Id like to qualify though, I am not completely anti-gun, I believe Australia’s gun laws are fantastic, as you can still own certain guns like bolt actions, semi automatics and shotguns, you just can’t purchase and keep rediculous weapons like automatic assault rifles and concealable hand guns etc.

Please feel free to challenge my stance on this issue though. 🙂

Pro gun in this poll means pro handguns for private defense. I’m anti gun but as the law in Australia provides, guns are allowed for sport, rural uses and police/military/security use by trained professionals.
 
I chose “other”. I am not a gun owner but I have been in the past and I hope to be again very soon. I am not sure I would call myself “pro-gun” but I am “pro 2nd amendment” and “pro gun ownership” and “pro concealed carry”.
 
I think everybody should be required to own a gun and keep it on them. Maybe that’s totally wrong, but everybody would be able to defend themselves, and if anybody pulled a gun on you, you’d have a gun, too. Rape rates would plummet. 🤷

Since the really strict gun laws were introduced in '96, nearly everyone is now anti-gun for private defense. I think that it demonstrates that much of the fear gun of laws is around the unknown whatifs that never happened.

Oh my. Well, wouldn’t you agree that the even worse category would be “Pro gun and not lawfully permitted to own by civil law”.

In which land do you live, that has so stripped the people of their own power, and forced them to depend on the gubmint. What a tragic breach of the principles of subsidiearity which the Catholic Church asserts. What an overreach of gubmint.

Pro gun people are being oppressed by your gubmint.

Yes indeed, well that’s the category I fall in as well.

What do you think your first gun will be? I’m either going to get a .357 Magnum, or a .38 special revolver.

Forgive me, but isn’t Australia a place where almost every living creature there can kill human beings?

I had a friend visit Australia, and he told me that, “Not only can everything here kill you, they WANT to kill you, too.”

It seems rather daft to be unable to own a gun in such a dangerous place. Don’t you think owning guns could help people survive down there?

Why choose? My first gun was a .357 Magnum that also shot .38 special ammo - Ruger Security Six. It was a great starter pistol. They don’t make them anymore but you can still find them re-sale.
