Attacking the Pope. This protects him from some cardinal assasinating him and then getting elected pontiff himself. He can’t, because he is excommunicated and it is a reserved to the pope kind to get rid of it.I guess I have spoken to a number of Priests who have heard the confession of people who’ve had abortions, but never raised it to the excommunication level. I just wondered how mnay mortal sins are also worthy of said punishment.

Priest absolves his partner in adultery.
Priest tries to get married without dispensation.
A layperson “celebrating” the sacrament (I assume as pretending to be a priest at a “mass”).
Desceration of the Eucharist.
Abortion (not reserved to pope, but given to bishops, who, I presume, pawn it off on the priests). As you can see, this is the one that would most likely apply to a layperson.
