“mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” Jude 1:2

How would you respond?

How would you respond?
Simple. These have nothing to do with religion. Religion is all about obedience, feeling inadequate, being guilty. The “love, mercy, etc” is just a thin veil to hide the basic teaching: “we are all despicable sinners, we all deserve damnation, we can never earn our way to heaven, no matter if we lead a life of a saint”.

It sounds like a short prayer of praise… So yes the answer would be. Amen.

Its the greeting at the beginning of the book of Jude, so I would just say, “Amen, brother!”, and move along.😉

I would say I am religious and try to be more so 🙂 How 'bout you?

What does it mean to be “religious?”

I don’t like that term. It implies that there is a constructed property of myself.

I prefer to say that I just choose to live in a way in which I believe I am naturally inclined to.

If you mean religious as an acceptance of and living out of Catholic beliefs about the nature of and relationships between God, myself, and others, then I certainly try. 😃

James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world.*

So I’ll ask, do we help care for orphans and widows? Do we keep ourselves unstained by the world?

I do consider myself to be religious. I also try to be merciful, peaceful, and loving. Admittedly I do fail frequently and I regret that but I do try.
