How does one receive salvation, justification, new birth, and eternal life?

What To Say

“Are you saved?” asks the Fundamentalist. The Catholic should reply: “As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13).”

This may also help, it’s about when the Church was founded and by whom.

Do you have any idea when your faith was founded and by whom? You may find this enlightening:

If you are a member of the Jewish faith, your religion was founded by Abraham about 4,000 years ago.

If you are Hindu, your belief system developed in India around 1,500 B.C.

If you are a Buddhist, yours split from Hinduism and was founded by Buddha, Prince Siddhartha Gautama of India, about 500 B.C

If you are Roman Catholic, Jesus Christ founded your Church in the year A.D. 30.

If you are Islamic, Mohammed started your religion in what is now Saudi Arabia around A.D. 600.

If you are Eastern Orthodox, your sect separated from Roman Catholicism around the year 1054.

If you are Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk in the Catholic Church, in 1517.

You asked, “Are you saved?” This is a Catholic Forum. That is a Protestant question!

We Catholics will not say that “we are saved”. There have been numerous threads that addressed this question. If you ask a Catholic that question…you should know what the answer will be.:eek:

And as for calling Eastern Orthodoxy a sect, when they have apostolic succession and as the Cathecism puts it

CCC 838 "With the Orthodox Churches, this communion is so profound “that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord’s Eucharist.”
 
Stdismas.org has a great tract on this very topic that can be got for free.
I find that handing a potential “witness” a copy of this will usually set them back on their heels, cos it’s the last thing they expect. A salvation tract from a Catholic, by Catholics is just nowhere in their plan… 😃

Nothin’ like that look of total surprise… :confused:

It’s also good for helping to get wayward Catholics to begin thinking about their souls. :eek:

No matter how bad it gets…remember…we win (In Him) in the end.
