For those of us who are Catholic: as Catholics in full communion with Holy Mother Church, we believe that she is the one authority able to infallibly interpret Scripture. Therefore, this discussion, while somewhat interesting, is moot.

Also, isn’t there something that says that Catholic Bibles are required to have footnotes?

Yes, I was Catholic, and therefore I know that the “Holy Mother Church” is the only Authority who is able to interpret the Holy Bible. Protestants, however, say that EVERYONE can interpret the bible correctly (at least for him) through the spirit of the Holy Ghost. And this is what I believe in.

The Holy Ghost wasn’t only sent to the 12 apostles (if you want to say that they are th first priests) but also to all other disciples. (Compare acts chapter 1 and 2!)

So ALL got the ghost of the truth, not only the 12. ALL got the gifts of the Holy Spirit and one gift is the interpretation of the Holy Bible.

Oh, and yes, in EVERY Catholic Bible are Footnotes where important Verses are explained (I still have one at home), quite detailled, indeed. This was one of the First Differences when I bought myself a Luther-Bible and later on the Good News Bible (in German).
