Mine are 6 5 3 and Nearly 2. Tried to space them a bit more but God had better ideas. It’s pretty crazy but I do love it too. Anyone else got small age gaps? And for those with older kids-it gets less crazy, right??

Sounds rather like my daughter’s family: nearly 6, 4 and a half, nearly 3 and 14 months.
About 18 months between each.
It certainly is crazy at time and I think she is amazing - you must be too, Becca.
And for both of you I sure hope it gets less crazy.
I only had 2 and they are 2 years apart and all grown up now.

We’ve got ages 19, 16, 9, 5, 4, 2.5, and a baby on the way. How’s that for apparently random spacing? 😃 (And dare I mention that we homeschool, too? LOL!)

It can be wild, but it’s also wonderful. And yes, as they get older and get less dependent and needy, it gets generally easier and a little less crazy. Especially since the older ones can help more and do more on their own rather than needing Mom to help with everything. 😉

My two boys are 8 minutes apart! 😃

They are 13 months old and I am EBF, so I think there will be more than 2 years between them and our next one…or two!

I have 10 kids, ages 21yrs to 2 yrs. (no multiples) There wasn’t much spacing in my household! 😛 My youngest 4 are similar ages to your 4, I’m just very blessed to have older children to play with them. 😃

6 kids between 13 and 1.

Some tight, a couple 3 year splits.

Having the first two right after each other is a huge blessing. They are best friends and good leaders.

Having had access to the birthdates of children in families with multiples (in a club for parents of multiples), I can say that it is typical to have a larger space between twins or triplets and the next birth than between other births in the family. Exhaustion will do that to you.

Ours are two minutes apart. It gets a lot less crazy! They grew up with someone to play with, I had one practice to drive two kids to instead of having to bounce between two practices and two game schedules, and now that they are in high school they study together. You’re probably in the hardest part now–that is, the age that starts at being able to climb that goes until the age at which choking is not an ever-present hazard. It gets easier after that. It gets easier gradually, but it gets easier.

For a second I thought my wife had posted. Ours our 19, 16, 6, 4, 2 and t-4 weeks. 😃
(we homeschool also).

I agree it can be crazy and older ones can help. That being said, sometimes I get more help out of the younger ones though. The 2 and 4 year olds still think cleaning is fun. The teenagers? Not so much.

We had three kids in 17 months! Crunch time! At one time I had four children 4 & under.

Not only did we homeschool! but we also had the family bed.

We were so disappointed when it became clear that because of medical reasons, we were never able to have more children. But, we never quit trying. 😃

I’ve got 5 and four were teens at the same time for over a year! Nothing is as bad as a 17 year old girl! I thought a baby and a 3,5,7,9 year were hard…but 10,13,15,17,19 was really bad.
I does get easier, mostly because some start to go to college, away from home! I wouldn’t have had it any other way, but it is going to be challenging to say the least.
Best of luck…I’ll say a prayer for you!

7 children in 10 years…15, 13, 11, 10, 9, 7, and 4.

The toughest time, I’d say, was when we had 4 under the age of 5 yrs and one of those was profoundly developmentally disabled, and experiencing a loss in the mix also.

God is faithful, though, and we have not regretted openness to life for a moment, right up until cardiac complications with pregnancy ended my childbearing.

Nowadays the hardest thing is getting everybody where they need to be with the right amount of cash and permission slip 🙂 because even as homeschoolers we have extracurricular activities.

Blessings,
Victoria

Too true! 😃

My daughter and son are 25 months apart. I LOVE it. 😃 My son will be a bit over 2 1/2 when baby #3 comes.

My biggest worry is finding a car that holds 3 car seats and a stroller. Our current one holds 4 car seats, but no stroller.

I have two living children, 13 months apart in age. They are all grown up now!

ODD is 27 months older than MDD. MDD is 8 minutes older than YDD. We are already to the point that a 4th would be further spaced out than the first 2 so we’ll see when that happens. 😉

9 children in 16 years. Smallest gap–30 seconds, biggest gap–3 years and some months. A few of the gaps, 18 months.

Yes, it does get easier over time.

Ours are DD=20, DS1=15 and DS2=14

The space between dd and Ds1 is 4 years 9 mos ( sanity)

Ds1 and ds2 are 17 months apart (insanity)

The close spacing is WONDERFUL once they hit school age.

Great stories! Thanks for sharing. I’m relieved to hear it gets a little easier, though I guess there are challenges at every age. (Vivienne-I’m not amazing at all, just very ordinary, but thank you ! X). I’ll be glad when my husband and I get our bed back - all 4 little monkeys often try to join us in the middle of the night! May peace reign in all our homes xx
