If my child was living a very immoral life under my roof, or using drugs, drinking heavily, not keeping up grades etc, then I may be inclined to withdraw collage funds if the child is wasting his time and my money. But to threaten removing it because my child disagrees with me politically is not reason enough and I would have very little respect for any parent that would threaten to do so. Also an adult child should be able to have opinions just like any other adult. What kind of world would it be if free will did not exist. The mother seems to be the one that is always trying to antagonize her child. I think that’s called control! God Bless, Memaw

I agree with Lax16. In addition to the non-committal remarks, add, “Excuse me, mom, but I need to go do ___________.” Then, go do it, so you aren’t lying.
Or, the OP could just say, “Mom, I have something else I need to go do.” (It’s true - the OP has to go do something other than listen to Mom!)

As a matter of fact, I am trying to apply for a job for the summer right now. Unfortunately no one has even called me yet. It’s like nobody ever wants to hire me. :crying:
In the meantime, try volunteering at a senior care facility in your area. The ones near us need people to come in and call bingo and help with other activities.

Great idea!

Melodeonist, I bet they would love to hear you play your accordion too. 🙂
