I was discussing predestination and free will with friends yesterday. I told one that being the Christ was part of the Son’s eternal, immutable nature and therefore God could not have merely known that man would sin, or else Christ’s nature must change to respond to that knowledge. Am I off base here?

Since God is the One who promised Israel a Messiah, I believe He would have known the state of the world before time, and so, He would have predestined His entry into history (the Incarnation), becoming for Israel their Redeemer and King.

God knows all things, but He has not preordained everything, as if to say everything happens around us as God ordained it; rather, God journeys with man, for all time is one to Him and, in virtue of the Incarnation, He has united Himself with every redeemed soul.
